Chapter 9: Thieves In The Night
I think this was supposed to be the theme song for a fake TV show...
You better lock it up tight,
Cause like thieves in the night,
They'll come and they'll take it.
Tail 'em, they'll shake it.
Catch them, cage them, they'll break out.
Cut out their tongues, and they'll still shout.
You can try to catch them,
Send armies to fetch 'em,
But they'll just take flight,
Cause they're thieves —
Thieves in the night!
Better lock it up tight,
Cause like thieves in the night,
They'll come and they'll take it.
Tail 'em, they'll shake it.
Catch them, cage them, they'll break out.
Cut out their tongues, and they'll still shout.
No lock can block them.
No trick can fool them.
No door can stop them.
No guard can school them.
They're thieves —
Thieves in the night!
You can lock them up tight,
But they'll still take flight,
Cause they're...
You can catch 'em, cage them,
Send armies to fetch them,
But you can't keep them,
You can't break them,
Cause they're...
Cut out their tongues,
They'll still shout,
Cause they're...
Lock them up,
They'll just get out,
Cause they're...
They know what's wrong,
They do what's right,
They know they're in
A losing fight.
You can try to avoid them,
Lock your sins up tight,
But you can't break them,
Cause they are thieves —
Thieves in the night!

I DEFINITELY song that like We Don't Talk About Bruno! :)
'I don't need hope, I just need spite.' YES!!!
Your writing cuts like glass—in the best, most breathtaking way. There's something in the way you build rhythm from fragmentation, like you're stitching together the unspeakable with your bare hands. It doesn’t feel like just poetry; it feels like memory, like survival. The kind of raw that doesn’t need polish to be powerful.
I don’t know where your words come from—personal, fictional, something in between—but they reach far. You name feelings I didn’t know I needed named. You make space for the messy parts: the grief that lingers, the thoughts that spiral, the strength that doesn’t always feel like strength.
Thank you for writing like this. Thank you for sharing it.

Glad you enjoyed it 😊
Oooh! I like it!
Amazing Your voice lingers in a meaningful way; some concepts require openness, and I’d like to contribute to that process.— D C could help ( a lex ia_ rose 0 0 1) ignore space
