Chapter 1: Chapter 3: Somesmurf Special

Sometimes, we can't see what's right in front of us.

The crisp morning air of Blossom was filled with the scent of wildflowers and the warm hum of cheerful Smurfs preparing for Valentine’s Day. Everywhere, little red hearts were being placed on doors, and Smurfette was already drowning in cards and flowers.

Brainy Smurf, however, had no time for such frivolous activities. He sat at his desk, scribbling furiously in one of his many self-authored books. Today's topic? The Philosophical Musings of a Superior Smurf Mind, Volume III.

Just as he adjusted his glasses and prepared to continue his writing, a loud thud followed by a startled “Gosh, sorry ‘bout that!” outside his window interrupted him. Brainy sighed and got up. He didn’t even have to look to know who it was.

“Good morning, Clumsy.” Brainy huffed as he opened the door, crossing his arms as Clumsy sheepishly picked himself up off the ground, dusting off his hat.

"Smurfy mornin' tah yah too, Brainy." Clumsy smiled. And then just... kept standing there. Smiling. Not walking away nor telling Brainy why he was there.

"Clumsy, did you have an actual reason for interrupting my very important work, or..?" He trailed off, gesturing to his writing desk.

"Oh, sorry Brainy." Clumsy's smile was replaced by a frown, making something in Brainy clench. Smurf it, he hated when Clumsy made that face, it always made him feel like an overly mean individual (which of course he wasn't). "Ah didn' know yah was workin'."

"What else would I be doing?" Brainy asked, genuinely curious what Clumsy might've thought he'd be up to. This time of day, he was almost always working.

A fact Clumsy should've been well aware of, considering how often he dropped by to remind Brainy to stop working for five seconds and actually eat breakfast...

"It's Valen– Valem– Valley–" Clumsy's face scrunched up, a distressed sound that was barely audible emanating from his chest as he struggled to pronounce the word. After a few more attempts, he gave up. "...a Holiday. Ah thought yah might, yah know... be out wit' somesmurf special?"

Brainy tensed, for just a second thinking he was about to be mocked. Then he remembered who precisely he was talking to, and calmed down. He adjusted his glasses with a sniff, trying to cover up the brief moment of panic reasonable anxiety. "My work is much too important to interrupt with something as silly as a date."

"So yah're jus' spendin' tha day alone?" Clumsy asked. At Brainy's slightly-hesitant nod, he smiled. "Well, so am ah! Maybe we c'n spend it alone together?"

"That isn't how being alone works, Clumsy." Brainy scoffed, hardly for the first time, before picking apart the rest of the other's words. "And what do you mean, you're spending Valentine's Day alone? Surely you have a date?"

"Uh, well..." Clumsy blushed, looking away. "N-not really."

"Clumsy, how many times have we talked about your self-confidence issues?" Brainy tsked, putting an arm around Clumsy's shoulders and leading him inside. "There's no need for you to be hesitant about asking somesmurf out; plenty of Smurfs would consider themselves lucky if you did!"

"Gee, it's okay, Brainy." Clumsy insisted. "Ah don't really wanna–"

"Nonsense, Clumsy." Brainy rolled his eyes. At least now he could guess why Clumsy had been loitering outside his door. "I swear, we really must work on your self esteem. Lucky for you, I'm perfectly willing to offer my matchmaking services and help you find a date. It was a wise decision to seek out my guidance, Clumsy, given my expansive knowledge on the subject of romantic pursuits.”

Brainy paused, considering the fact that most Smurfs avoided him every Valentine's Day. Whatever, it didn't make him any less capable of helping out his best friend; he's always been better at the theoretical than the practical anyways.

Clumsy took advantage of the pause to protest. "That's really kind o' yah, Brainy, but ah really don' need yah tah do that."

“Now, now! No need to feel self-conscious! It’s perfectly natural to feel overwhelmed when faced with such an important endeavor as finding a mate.” Brainy smirked, ignoring something ugly and confusing that rose up in his chest at those words. “But you would hardly be my best friend if you weren't at least somewhat exceptional, Clumsy, and surely somesmurf will see that as easily as I do. Have you considered Firelily? You and her love flying Dragonflies together.”

"Gosh, she's real nice an' all, but ah don' like her like that." Clumsy shook his head, jostling Brainy's arm a bit. Because he'd forgotten to remove it, and it would just be awkward if he did so now. Oops.

"Ah, well, there's plenty of other options." Brainy frowned. He would've bet money that Clumsy had a crush on Firelily. He wasn't lying, was he? No, impossible, Clumsy didn't lie to him. “Smurfette is, of course, in high demand, but perhaps we could smurf you in early for next year. There's always Barista, or maybe Historian — she has a soft spot for natural disasters like you.”

Brainy chuckled fondly, before cutting himself off with the worry that perhaps that has come off a little mockingly? He didn't mean it as such, but he could privately admit that he wasn't always as good as talking to others as he'd like to be.

"Ah don'... Ah, uh..." Clumsy stuttered. He breathed deeply for a moment. "Ah don' think I'm all that interested in those girls, Brainy. They're jus' friends."

"Well, why didn't you say so sooner, Clumsy." Brainy tittered, pieces clicking together. "That gives us some more options. Now, let's see..." Brainy tapped his chin with his free hand, thinking.

Clumsy sighed exasperatedly, like Brainy oh so often did around him.

"Scaredy and you are close, right? He might be interested." Brainy pondered. "Maybe Sandy, or Glider, or..." He shuddered as a thought occurred to him. "If Boxer comes anywhere near you I'm smurfing Jokey loose on him, I'm warning you now."

Clumsy laughed, turning his face to press briefly into Brainy. "Ah don' think that's gonna be a problem, Brainy. Gosh, ah'm real grateful fer what yahr tryin' tah do, ah am — but ah don’ wanna spend tha day goin' out wit' anysmurf.”

Brainy hesitated “…You don’t?”

“Nope.”

Brainy blinked, looking at Clumsy with a scrutinizing gaze. “If you don't want to spend Valentine's Day with anysmurf special, then what do you want to smurf today?” and why in the world was he at Brainy's house?

"Gee, yah really wanna know?" Clumsy asked, his blush returning just slightly, giving his freckled face a light dusting of purple. Brainy nodded.

Clumsy shrugged out of his hold, and Brainy lamented the loss of contact, for a second wondering if he'd done something to annoy the other. But Clumsy didn't head for the door, instead going over to one of the many bookshelves in the room.

He tripped once on his way, but was mostly being more careful than usual, trying extra hard to not accidentally damage any of Brainy's books (again). He spent a minute searching, then tugged a large volume off the shelf, holding it up so the title was clearly visible: The Smurfy Wisdom of Brainy Smurf, Volume IX.

“This here’s one ah been tryin’ tah read lately,” Clumsy explained to a bewildered Brainy, “but there’s a lotta big words, an’ ah keep, well, trippin’ over ‘em.” He looked up at Brainy, scuffing his foot against the ground, not laughing at his own joke. Clumsy often struggled to read Brainy's books, he was perhaps one of the Smurfs least capable of understanding them — but he was the only Smurf that actually tried, which more than made up for that fact, at least as far as Brainy was concerned. “So ah was hopin’ that, maybe, yah'd be willin' tah read it tah me?”

Brainy stared. “…You want to spend the day listening to me read?” It was hardly the first time Clumsy had requested such, but surely that couldn't actually be how he wanted to spend Valentine's Day?

Clumsy nodded excitedly. “Yeah! Ah always like tha way ya read, Brainy. Y’got a real smurfy voice, an’ yer always so passi– passion–" the distressed sound again, replaced by a sigh. "...happy ‘bout wha' yah write.” He frowned, glancing at the writing desk. "But ah understand if yah're too busy."

Brainy hesitated a second before slowly answering. “Clumsy, you know I'm always happy to read with you, but we can do that any old day. Surely you'd rather spend Valentine's Day with somesmurf special?"

“...Ah do wanna spend tha day wit' somesmurf special.” Clumsy said quietly, blush growing.

"Who?" Brainy asked, somewhat frustrated. If Clumsy really did have someone then why was he here? Why was he with Brainy?

It was Clumsy's turn to hesitate. He took a deep breath, then smiled. "Gosh, tha most special Smurf ah know; Brainy Smurf."

Brainy froze, mind skittering to a halt. Finally, it rebooted enough for him to squeak out, "C-could you repeat that?"

But Clumsy did not repeat it. Instead, he just gently put the book in Brainy's hands, looking up at him hopefully. Brainy looked down at the book, up at Clumsy, and back to the book. He chuckled.

“W-Well, if that is the case, then I suppose I can oblige you. After all, what better way to spend the day than imparting my superior wisdom to an eager listener?”

Clumsy just kept smiling, plopping down onto one of Brainy's stools and patiently waiting.

Brainy sat down across from him, adjusting the book in his hands, face heating up unusually from an activity they had done so many times. “Ahem. Now, let us begin… ‘The Smurfy Wisdom of Brainy Smurf, Volume IX: A Collection of the Most Brilliant Thoughts Ever Smurfed’…”

And so, as the rest of Smurf Village indulged in grand romantic gestures, fancy dinners, and heartfelt confessions, Brainy Smurf spent the day doing something entirely unexpected: reading his own words out loud to the one Smurf who actually wanted to hear them.

Clumsy, leaning forward and listening intently, hung on to every word, completely smitten.

Brainy found that, for once, he could honestly say he didn't entirely mind being alone on Valentine's Day.

Because he was alone with somesmurf special, and that truly made all the difference.

Chapter 2: Chapter 5: Unexpected

Love doesn't need one to be perfect — but it does require effort.

Someday, Grouchy will say 'I love you' without hesitance. Someday, Vanity will gush over what he loves about Grouchy without even mentioning himself. This isn't that day. But it will come, eventually.

Grouchy Smurf had long since mastered the art of keeping expectations low, especially when it came to things like Valentine's Day. Over the years, he’d made it clear — repeatedly and loudly — that he hated everything about the holiday; the pink hearts, the sappy love notes, the endless smooching, all of it. And thus nosmurf ever dared to include him in any romantic celebrations, which suited him just fine.

So when Vanity spent the entire day avoiding him, Grouchy told himself he didn’t care. He hated the holiday and knew Vanity didn't celebrate beyond bragging about how many cards he'd gotten, it wasn't like he'd expected anything romantic. He didn't care.

…But he did care, was the thing. Just a little.

Because not celebrating was one thing, but outright avoiding him? That was another.

Vanity was self-obsessed, Grouchy knew that, he'd never resented it. And it wasn't like Grouchy even wanted flowers or chocolates or whatever ridiculous nonsense Smurfs typically gave each other to say 'I love you'.

But he and Vanity spent most days together, they had since they were Smurflings and the behavior only increased once they became a... thing. It was normal. Familiar. Routine.

Then suddenly, without warning, Vanity was nowhere to be found. And Grouchy was alone. Which, contrary to popular belief, was not his preferred state of being.

Grouchy scowled harder than usual as he stomped through the village, hands clenched into fists, a black cloud practically visible around him. He barely noticed as other Smurfs scrambled out of his way in fright, he was too caught up in his own darker-than-normal thoughts.

Fine, then. If Vanity didn’t want Grouchy around, he wouldn't be around. He would just go for a walk, one of the few activities he actually enjoyed though he'd never admit, and clear his head far away from Vanity.

The air was crisp, the sky bright, and Grouchy wandered far enough that he found himself at the edge of a small meadow. He paused, looking at a group of wildflowers swaying gently in the breeze.

Grouchy frowned. He hated flowers, of course, as he hated everything. He hated flowers... Except for how they smelled, which wasn't always terrible. And except for how they looked, which was usually pretty. And except for how Vanity loved to wear one behind his ear, though it was usually cloth and jewels made to look like a flower rather than the real thing, which he claimed added to his 'nearly unbearable smurfiness'.

So yes, Grouchy hated everything about flowers. Except for how they reminded him of Vanity and his stupid perfumes and his even stupider gorgeous face.

Before he could think about it too much, Grouchy knelt down, roughly plucking a small handful of the most vibrant ones.

Grouchy had always hated Valentine's Day. He still did. He just… didn’t hate Vanity. And maybe he hadn't done a good enough job of showing that, if the other had decided not to even say hi on the holiday. Grouchy wasn't one for gifts, but lov– not-hate was about effort, right? He could make a little effort, couldn't he?

Ah, why not? His reputation was already shot to Hell from how often he held Vanity's hand, and one little gift couldn't possibly do more damage to it than that did. Grouchy was going to go for it.

When he returned to Blossom, the sun was beginning to set. Smurfs were laughing, sharing sweets, exchanging gifts. Grouchy ignored them, heading straight to the bright pink Mushroom that was Vanity's home. He didn’t bother knocking, he rarely did, he just pushed open the door and stepped inside.

Vanity, sitting at his vanity (where else?), gasped. “Grouchy! What a surprise." He smiled warmly. “I was smurfing for you earlier, but everysmurf said you smurfed off to the forest. I tried to follow you but, ugh, the light filtering through the canopy is simply awful today — I couldn't bear to let my face be marred by such splotchy patterns. You understand, I hope.”

Grouchy hesitated. Vanity had gone looking for him? Entirely against his will, Grouchy felt something deep inside himself warm at the thought that Vanity wasn't avoiding him anymore.

Clearing his throat, he shoved the small bouquet he'd picked toward Vanity. “Here.”

Vanity blinked, gaze flickering away from his hand mirror and towards the flowers. “What…?”

Grouchy shifted awkwardly and crossed his arms roughly, his scowl deepening. “To put behind your ear,” he muttered.

Vanity's eyes widened and his smile brightened in delight. He snatched the flowers, holding them close as he beamed. “Oh, Grouchy! These are absolutely smurfy! And just think of how much more gorgeous they'll look once they have the honor of being worn by me, hmm?”

Grouchy looked away, blushing, as Vanity arranged the bouquet in one of the many vases he kept on pedestals around his house.

Vanity paused, snapping his fingers. “Oh, that reminds me!” He turned to grab Grouchy’s wrist, pulling him across the room. “I have something for you too, old friend, something nearly as wonderful as I am. Try not to faint from such perfection all gathered in one place, won't you?”

He stopped in front of a long, flat, rectangular shape covered by a white sheet. He made sure Grouchy was looking at it before pulling the sheet off with a flourish.

Grouchy blinked.

It was a portrait of the two of them, sitting on soft, fluffy clouds. The colors were gentle, dreamy. Vanity was, of course, posed perfectly, his beauty on full display as he stared into his ever present mirror. Grouchy was sitting next to him, arms uncrossed, his softest frown on his face.

That particular frown was as close as Grouchy typically got to a contented expression. But it was just the two of them there, him and Vanity, so for once he let a small smile tug at his lips. "I love clouds," he whispered quietly, part of him not wanting even Vanity to hear him admit liking something.

And it was true. He did love clouds. Always had. He'd almost named himself Cloudgazing Smurf, once upon a time, before he'd discovered his life's passion of becoming the grouchiest Smurf to ever live.

Vanity pressed a hand to his chest dramatically. “You would not believe how difficult it was getting Painter to capture my exact level of perfection. I had to have him redo an entire section because he smurfed my flower two smurfimeters too far to the left — can you even imagine such horror?!”

Grouchy barely heard him. He was still staring at the painting, at the clouds, at the warmth of it all.

“So...” Vanity trailed off, sounding uncharacteristically nervous. He was still looking at his mirror, but for once his full attention was on Grouchy. “You do like it, don't you?”

“It's not too terrible,” Grouchy grumbled, looking away again, his small smile fading as if it was never there. “I guess I don't hate it.”

Another Smurf might've gotten annoyed at the lackluster response, but Vanity knew him too well to mistake it as anything other than glowing praise. He grinned, leaning in to place a quick, almost chaste kiss on Grouchy’s cheek. Grouchy’s blush returned with a vengeance, but he didn’t move away.

With a fond shake of his head, Vanity twirled back around and moved across the room, picking through the flowers Grouchy had brought. “Now, which one should I smurf first? This one complements my eyes wonderfully, you smurfed it well, but this one really brings out my–

Grouchy, arms crossed, stood beside him, listening quietly.

He didn’t hate it when Vanity ranted about dumb things like flowers and patchy sunlight and mirrors.

In fact, one might even say — if they were very brave and very far from Grouchy's earshot — that he loved it.

Chapter 3: Chapter 6: Fortunate Mistakes

Science is all about the fortunate mistakes.

The crisp morning air carried the scent of fresh-baked bread and sugared nuts through Blossom, mingling with the faint musk of parchment and stone dust that clung to Archeologist Smurf and Paleontologist Smurf — or, as they were better known, Archie and Leo.

Valentine’s Day had come again, which meant a day of grand romantic gestures for some, an elaborate game of avoidance for others, and for these two? A pleasant, meandering walk filled with light bickering and a deep-seated sense of companionship that neither had ever truly put into words. As they walked, they sampled different snacks from the various stands that always managed to pop up every holiday.

Archie adjusted his satchel, keeping his grip firm on the honey-roasted acorn clusters he’d gotten from Honey, while Leo carefully balanced a parchment cone of fried mushroom bites from Tracker in one hand, a particularly interesting fossil in the other.

“This,” Leo said, waving the fossil for emphasis, “is solid proof that Smurfs might not have been the first sapient species in this region. Look at the markings on the bone — uneven, but most certainly made with a hunting knife.”

Archie scoffed, popping an acorn into his mouth. “You’re smurfing at it all wrong. That’s not an animal, it’s a rock worn down by natural erosion. If anysmurf ever tried to eat that, it was probably an incredibly primitive Smurf. Maybe even a Smurfis Erectus.”

Leo gave him a deadpan look. “You know that’s not a real classification, right?”

“I know it should be.”

Leo huffed, rolling his eyes as they strolled toward the village square, passing a few Smurfs decorating the fountain with garlands of tiny red flowers. Poet Smurf stood on the fountain ledge, dramatically reciting a love poem to Painter Smurf, who was too busy sketching to fully listen but still nodded along to the words.

“Anyway,” Archie continued, “while you waste your time digging up questionable fossils, I actually contribute to Smurf history by studying real artifacts.”

Leo smirked, knowing exactly which buttons to push. “'Real artifacts'? You mean like that broken pot you swore was a lost relic of an ancient Smurf civilization, only for Handy Smurf to recognize it as a discarded project from last year?”

Archie scowled. “That was one time.”

Leo's smirk grew to a grin. “And let’s not forget the infamous ‘holy spoon of the forgotten Smurfs,’ which turned out to be part of Alchemist's old tea set.”

“That was two times.”

Leo chuckled, shaking his head as he popped a fried mushroom into his mouth. “Face it, Archie, my field actually has scientific merit. Your ‘artifacts’ are just old junk with good storytelling.”

Archie gasped, pressing a dramatic hand to his chest. “Leo! How could you smurf such a thing? History is the best kind of story!”

Leo smirked, unfazed. “Mm-hmm.”

They continued on, stopping here and there for more snacks — some freshly baked bread rolls and a bit of candied fruit from Greedy Smurf, even a shared cup of hot spiced berry juice from Farmer's stand. The whole time, they kept up their usual banter, trading jabs and observations in a rhythm as familiar to them as breathing.

“You know,” Archie said as they reached the outskirts of the village, the buzz of Smurf festivities now a distant hum, “this has been a really nice date.”

Leo blinked. “…Date?”

Archie’s stomach dropped. He frowned.

Leo, for all his usual smugness, looked genuinely caught off guard. “Wait, Archie, I thought we were just hanging out. Like we always do..?”

Archie’s mouth suddenly felt dry. He adjusted his satchel unnecessarily. “Oh. Uh. Yeah. Yeah, of course.” He laughed, but it was forced. “Just a regular day out, right? No big deal. That's smurfectly fine.”

Leo frowned, watching the other with worry. Archie was a lot of things — overconfident, exasperating, entirely too dramatic — but he wasn’t usually a liar.

And, quite frankly, he was entirely horrible at covering up his feelings.

Leo took a second to make up his mind, took a step forward, and — before Archie could react — leaned in to kiss him.

It was quick, just a small press of lips, but it was enough to leave Archie standing there, blinking in stunned silence.

"..What–?”

Leo grinned, crossing his arms. “You’re an idiot, you know that?”

Archie sputtered. “Excuse me?”

“I like spending time with you,” Leo said, rolling his eyes. “I just… didn’t think about it as a ‘date’ because, well, we already do this all the time. But if you want* it to be a date,” He gave a small smirk, “I’d love that.”

Archie’s breath caught. “You… would?”

“Yeah.”

Archie stared at him for another beat before grinning, slow and wide. “Well then,” He dusted himself off with exaggerated flair, “I suppose it’s time we do this properly, hm?”

Leo chuckled. “What, you gonna plan something extravagant now?" He asked challengingly. He'd seen the other pull off some pretty tight deadlines, but most of the day was already gone.

“Not at all.” Archie said, nudging him forward as they began walking again. “I propose we have a walking date, with the official status of a real date. We can get some snacks from the stands, you can prattle on about whatever rock you're certain was an ancient lifeform this week...”

Leo pretended to consider this. “…So, exactly what we were doing before, then?”

“Exactly.” Archie nodded, grinning.

Leo laughed. “Alright then. But, just so you know, I’m still right about the fossil.”

Archie groaned. “Leo—!”

And so, the two continued their way through the village; eating snacks, bickering, and falling into step with something familiar yet new, something warm between them that had been there longer than either really knew.

It was, in the end, a very good day.

Chapter 4: Chapter 7: Serenade

Love sometimes means sacrifice.

I cannot for the life of me remember why I started shipping these two.

The air in Blossom was buzzing with excitement as Valentine's Day approached. Smurfs were busy crafting gifts, gathering flowers, and preparing sweet surprises for their loved ones.

Inside his shop, Tailor carefully adjusted a pair of sunglasses, his face a picture of concentration. These weren’t just any sunglasses — Tailor had designed them to be as stylish and unique as possible, just for his boyfriend, Harmony Smurf.

"Ah, my Love will love these." Tailor said proudly to himself, holding up the finished product. The lenses were shaped like musical notes, the frames carved with tiny, elegant treble clefs. They were the perfect gift.

Later that morning, Tailor found Harmony sitting on a tree stump, absentmindedly blowing his trumpet, producing a cacophony that made Tailor wince. The moment he saw Tailor, Harmony grinned and set his instrument down.

"Tailor! My darling! What brings you here on this smurfy morning?" He half-sang, standing up to greet the other.

Tailor chuckled, keeping the sunglasses behind his back. "Happy Valentine's Day, Harmony. I made something special for you."

Harmony's eyes sparkled excitedly as Tailor revealed the sunglasses, the musical Smurf quickly snatching them and replacing his normal pair. He admired himself in the reflection of his old sunglasses, adjusting the new ones dramatically.

"Smurfy stars above, these are fantastic!" Harmony gushed, striking a pose. "I look like a true musical genius!"

"You are a genius, my Love." Tailor told him, chuckling.

Harmony gave him a sudden hug. "I must smurf you something in return! A gift of equal smurfiness!"

"You don’t have to—"

"Nonsense! I shall smurf you the greatest song you’ve ever heard! A love ballad straight from my heart!"

Tailor’s tensed up. He could handle Harmony's music better than most, and he loved seeing how passionate the other got when he played, but still... No one with ears could actually enjoy Harmony's music, except for the trumpeter himself.

But Tailor loved Harmony. And love sometimes meant sacrifice.

"I look forward to it, my Love." Tailor only half-lied, smiling softly as Harmony ran off, muttering something about needing to compose in peace.

As soon as he was out of sight, Tailor sprinted back to his shop with a new mission: crafting a pair of earmuffs that looked purely decorative, but would actually block out and and all sound.

All afternoon, Tailor worked and sewed, testing different padding, making sure they looked good enough to pass as a simple accessory.

"Voilà!" He sang triumphantly, holding up the finished product. Now he could enjoy his Love's gift without hurting his feelings by cringing away.

As evening fell, Harmony arrived at the shop to lead Tailor to where he'd set the stage for his song. They each danced as they walked, watching night fall farther, enjoying each other's company.

Finally they arrived back at the stump, lanterns lit up in nearby trees, starlight casting an ephemeral glow over the scene. Earmuffs tucked securely over his head, Tailor sat on the stump, eyes closed at Harmony's direction. He kept the earmuffs just a little off so he could hear when to open his eyes, smiling even as he braced himself for the first screechy notes of the other's signature trumpet.

"Okay, you can look now." Harmony told him, a slight hum filling his voice. "Tonight, my dearest, I give you my heart in song!"

Tailor subtly tightened his earmuffs, eyes fluttering open. He froze.

Standing around the clearing were Spelunker, Strings, Drummer, and Narrator. They had their instruments with them, stands with music sheets set up in front of each. Harmony stood grinning behind a fifth stand, his trumpet replaced with a silver stick.

Tailor took the earmuffs off as discretely as he could manage, smile growing as he realized his love wasn't going to play a song for him — he was conducting one.

"My dear Quartet, begin!" Harmony ordered, lifting his baton.

Soft, enchanting music filled the air, perfectly timed under Harmony’s guidance. His hands moved gracefully, cueing each musician, bringing harmony (real harmony) to the melody.

It was beautiful.

Tailor listened in awe, swaying slightly with the song. The music swelled, blending with the rustling of the trees and the soft glow of fireflies.

When the song ended, Tailor burst into applause. He stood and ran to Harmony, throwing his arms around him.

"Harmony! That was absolutely smurfy!"

Harmony beamed. "You really liked it?"

"I loved it!" Tailor chuckled.

"I know I'm not exactly the best musician." Harmony whispered, holding up a hand to stop Tailor from protesting. "I'm not, and you're so very sweet for pretending otherwise, dearest. But I wanted to smurf you a song you'd truly love, as much as I love the accessories you make for me."

"It was perfect, my Love. Just like you." Tailor’s heart swelled with warmth. He laughed, cupping Harmony’s cheek. "You are the most wonderful Smurf ever, and I am the luckiest to have you."

The two Smurfs shared a kiss under the starry sky, their love in perfect harmony at last.

Chapter 5: Chapter 8: Not Just Anysmurf Else

It's amazing how something that annoys us from anyone else can be charming when it comes from someone we love.

The morning air was crisp with the lingering chill of dawn. Atop an emerald hill overlooking Blossom, two figures sat on a checkered blanket — Painter and Poet. Both Smurfs were wrapped in scarves against the early breeze, and they had set up a picnic as the sun stretched its golden fingers across the sky.

A basket, brimming with fresh berries and chocolate treats, rested between them. Painter, his beret tilted at a jaunty angle, sketched the lazy clouds drifting above, humming to himself as his fingers danced across the paper. Poet, meanwhile, had his own parchment unfurled, one hand holding it steady while the other tapped his quill thoughtfully against his chin.

"The sky doth blush with tender hue,

A morning kissed by drops of dew…"

He paused, frowning slightly as he scratched out the last line.

"No, non, zhat was magnifique, mon Poète!" Painter insisted, peering at the other's scroll to read over his words. "Zhe sky does blush, like a maiden caught in a lover’s gaze. Ah, but perhaps you should add a line about zhe clouds, no? After all, a sky without clouds is plain and boring, n'est-ce pas?"

Poet hummed, eyes twinkling at the suggestion.

"The clouds curve and shine like nature’s prize,

Their soft forms glistening beneath sunrise…"

He grinned, pleased with the addition, and scribbled it down. With anysmurf else, he would see the suggestion as an attempt to control his chosen art, an insult to his own skill — but this wasn't anysmurf else, it was Painter, and he knew already that the other respected his talent.

The morning passed in this fashion — Poet musing aloud, changing words, crafting lines; Painter listening, nodding, offering thoughts in return while his pencil skated across the page. Now and then, they reached for the same berry at once, their fingers brushing, leading to soft chuckles and bashful smiles.

As the afternoon melted into evening, Painter set his sketchpad aside and pulled out his easel. "Ah, mon amour, le moment parfait! Look at zhe sky — she is ready to pose for me!"

Poet leaned back, admiring the vibrant spread of oranges, purples, and pinks spilling across the heavens.

"A vast canvas of fire and light,

A dream unfurls in fading sight…"

He sighed, watching as Painter mixed his colors with the same concentration he himself gave to his own craft. With each brushstroke, a second sunset took form, its bright colors swirling into shape on the canvas.

Looking between the horizon and the artwork, Poet frowned slightly and pointed to a corner of the canvas.

"Ah, my dear, your strokes are strong,

But there, the shade — just a bit wrong.

A deeper red, perhaps, a softer hue,

Would better match our golden view!"

If it had come from anysmurf else, Painter would have scowled at the suggestion, assuming it to be a sly way of claiming his art subpar. But this was Poet, so Painter merely chuckled and adjusted the colors as the other suggested. "Mmm, oui, zhat is much better. You have zhe eye of a true artist, mon Poète. Perhaps you should paint, and I shall rhyme, non?"

Poet smirked.

"I thank you, my dear Painter, but let’s not pretend,

With paint and brush, I wouldn't know how to begin!"

As the final brushstroke landed, Painter stepped back with a satisfied sigh. The painting glowed with the warmth of the sunset, capturing not just the colors of the sky but the quiet joy of the day.

Poet reached for Painter’s hand, intertwining their fingers.

"A masterpiece, both bright and bold,

A tale of love in light retold."

Painter turned, gazing at Poet with a soft smile. "Not just zhe painting, mon amour. Zhe whole day — it was… parfait. No?"

"A perfect day indeed, sitting here with you,

Creating and making things bright and new.

I can't think of something more quiet and quaint,

Than to sit here and rhyme all day as you paint.

With that, he leaned in, brushing a soft kiss to the other's lips. He pulled back, resting his head against Painter's shoulder, as they sat and watched the last rays of the sun slip beneath the horizon.

For them, Valentine's was never anything all that grand — it was just a day to spend indulging in their greatest loves: art, poetry… and each other.

Chapter 6: Chapter 9: Somesmurf Loves You

Love isn't about changing who you are — it's about finding someone that adores you not in spite of, but BECAUSE of your truest self.

It was Valentine's Day in Blossom, and everywhere Smurfs bustled about with excitement. Love-smudged letters passed hands, heart-shaped cookies baked in ovens, and even Grouchy Smurf was seen — reluctantly — holding hands with Vanity.

But one Smurf had no time for such foolishness. Nosey Smurf hunched over her desk in the Newspaper Mushroom, scribbling frantically as ink stained her fingers. A real journalist didn’t take holidays, after all.

Editor Smurf leaned against the doorframe, arms crossed. "Nosey, take the day off. Go smurf yourself some fun for once."

Nosey scoffed, flipping a page in her notebook. "Smurf a day off? And miss out on the biggest stories of the year? Smurf, no! There's gotta be some juicy news happening today!"

Editor sighed, knowing it was pointless to argue. "Fine, but don't work too hard. And don't bother anysmurf on their special day, alright?"

Nosey nodded absentmindedly, not actually promising or agreeing to anything. Editor shook his head as he left.

As soon as he was gone, Nosey jumped to her feet, a certain Smurf trailing behind her like a shadow. Camera Smurf, ever loyal, hoisted his oversized camera strap higher onto his shoulder as he followed her out the door. He didn’t say much, he didn’t have to, Nosey didn't need to hear him to know he was there. Wherever she went, so too did Camera.

Nosey smirked. "C'mon, Camera. Let’s smurf us a scoop!"

The hunt began.

All day, Nosey peeked behind bushes, ducked under tables, and climbed rooftops, searching for something worth printing.

She spotted Handy and Smurfette sharing a box of chocolates — boring, everysmurf already knew about that.

Poet reading love poetry to Painter — predictable.

Flirty wiggling his eyebrows at a group of giggling Smurf girls — just another Tuesday.

Time and time again, she scribbled notes, only to cross them out. Nothing was exciting enough. Nothing felt like the right story.

Meanwhile, Camera Smurf stayed by her side as a silent, steady presence. His lens clicked softly, now and again, though Nosey never once saw what exactly he was photographing. Nothing popped out to her as particularly interesting enough to take a picture of, though perhaps he'd managed to make something seem more spectacular than it truly was. She'd never stop being impressed by her partner in crime reporting's skills when it came to photography.

Evening fell. The once-lively village was now bathed in warm, golden light. The scent of flowers and fresh-baked sweets still lingered in the air, but Nosey didn’t feel like celebrating.

She slumped onto a tree stump in the middle of the square, shoulders sagging in defeat. "It’s hopeless," she muttered. "All day, I’ve been smurfing my tail off looking for a big scoop, and what do I have? Nothing!" She threw her notebook onto the grass in frustration.

Camera Smurf stood beside her, head tilted as he listened to her rant.

"I wasted my whole smurfing day," she continued bitterly. "Not that much of a waste, though; it isn't like somesmurf was waiting for me to smurf something else with them, after all. It’s not like anysmurf actually wants to go out with the annoying gossip queen." She laughed weakly, then bit her lip. "Might as well work, right? At least then I don’t have to think about it."

A sniffle escaped before she could stop it.

Gently, Camera Smurf sat beside her. He carefully opened a section of his beloved camera and pulled out a stack of fresh photos.

Nosey blinked as he placed them in her hands. "What’s this?"

The first picture featured Nosey herself, scribbling furiously in her notebook, eyes bright with excitement. The next, peering over a rooftop with determined focus. Another, smiling as she grinned conspiratorially behind a tree.

One after another, she flipped through the photos. They were all of her as she worked throughout the day — not just her working, but her at her most her.

Passionate. Fierce. Determined.

She gaped, turning towards her camerasmurf. "You… You spent the whole day taking pictures of me?"

Camera Smurf nodded.

"Why?"

For a long moment, he was silent, his eyes searching hers. Then, with a soft grunt, he lifted his arm and wrapped it around her shoulders, pulling her close. "I love you, Nosey." His words were like him: straightforward, steady, and meaning more to Nosey than she knew how to ever properly express.

Nosey’s breath hitched. Camera was not the touchy-feely type, and he rarely spoke at all. But here he was, warm and steady beside her, holding her like she was something precious and saying he loved her.

Showing her he loved her.

Her eyes stung. She leaned into him, gripping the photos tightly as the weight of the day melted away.

"...I love you too, Cam," she whispered, hugging him back.

Camera Smurf hummed in contentment.

(The next day, the villagers are rather bemused when The Blossom Times runs the headline 'Camera Smurf Confesses Love — The Lucky Smurf To Hear It Will Shock You!')

(The post is not supposed to run right after a holiday)

(In Nosey's defense, that just meant that Editor wasn't around to stop her)

Chapter 7: Chapter 10: Planning Ahead

It pays to plan ahead

Art by me 😊

'Twas the day before Valentine's, and all throughout Blossom

Smurfs were making plans, both minor and awesome.

Blossom buzzed with pre-Valentine’s Day excitement. Decorations were going up, sweets were being made, and Smurfs whispered about potential dates for the big day. It seemed everysmurf had some sort of preparation or planning to do.

Inside his Mushroom, Flirty Smurf was making plans of his own, plans to have the best Valentine's ever. He stood tall in front of his mirror, straightening and restraightening his rose-colored scarf.

"Oh!" He sighed dramatically, smiling at his reflection. "Tomorrow, romance shall bloom! But who shall be the lucky Smurf to join me in a night of passion? Ah-ha-ha!" He chuckled to himself. Securing his scarf one last time, as it was his habit, he set out through his door and into the village to complete his most important holiday mission.

His first stop was Honey Smurf, who was carefully tending to her beehives.

"Honey, sweet as your namesake! Have you any plans for tomorrow, or shall we together harvest the nectar of love?" Flirty leaned against one of the hives, flashing her a dazzling and suggestive grin.

"I have plans." Honey didn’t even look at him, too busy bandaging a bee's leg. "I'm doing checkups on my colonies this week."

"A romantic stroll by moonlight would be far sweeter, no?" Flirty suggested. "You could bring your bees."

Honey turned to him, holding a bee up much too close to his face, making him back up with a yelp. "You sure about that? They tend to swarm around me when we're out."

Flirty considered this and gave a slight nod. "Point taken. Have a smurfy day, sweet one." He bowed, smirking at her eye roll, and left to try his luck again.

Next, he found Smurfette, arranging flowers in her window.

"Ah, the beauty of the village! The flower among weeds! The angel among—"

"No, Flirty," Smurfette said before he could finish.

"But I haven’t even asked yet!" He protested.

"You ask me out every year." She huffed, though there was no true anger in it, leaning against her window box. "And my answer is always the same. I don't know why you do this to yourself, Flirty."

"Oh, but my flower," he crooned, "this year I took your words to heart and asked somesmurf else first! But, alas, Honey was far too bzzzzy." He chuckled.

"Doing what, washing her hair?" Smurfette asked, making him scoff playfully. "Can you really blame her? I still remember last year when you recited poetry in the middle of the square."

Flirty gasped. "But my words were from the heart!"

"They were from Poet’s book, and you replaced ‘love’ with ‘Smurfette’ in every line."

"...Ah-ha-ha! A coincidence, surely!" Flirty insisted.

"Uh-huh. Yeah." Smurfette shook her head, turning back to her flowers. "I'm with Hefty now anyways, so you really can't keep smurfing me out, Flirty. I'm serious this time."

"Oh, alright." Flirty agreed with a shrug. He waved as he walked awat. "Tell him he's a lucky one, village flower."

Smurfette's giggles followed all the way to his next destination; Handy's shop. He stood in the doorway, eyes bright amd smile charming.

"My dear Handy, I find myself in need of some special help for tomorrow." Flirty wiggled his eyebrows suggestively. "It seems my heart has broken right in two, and I was hoping you could–"

"Please tell me you aren't smurfing me out." Handy groaned, rubbing the bridge of his nose.

"Astute as always, my talented friend!" Flirty snapped his fingers, looking pleased. "So what say you? A dinner, candlelight, perhaps a—"

"I'm working on twenty orders for tomorrow." Handy interrupted. "Besides, in case you forgot, I hate you."

Flirty put a hand to his chest. "Whatever did I do?"

Handy raised an eyebrow. "Seriously? You broke into my shop to make out with a sprite three times–"

"She was leaving soon, we wanted to savor our time together!"

"–convinced half the town my lipstick machine was a kissing machine–"

"I thought it was!"

"–and, oh yeah, won't stop flirting with me." Handy frowned. He pointed his mallet at Flirty. "You're a nice enough Smurf when you're not being a pushy ass, Flirty, but I don't like you that way. Never have. Never will. Now get out."

With a theatrical sigh, Flirty departed as ordered, making a mental note to cross Handy out for next year. Ah, alas, he and Smurfette were always the most fun. But was he to do, when they'd made themselves so very clear?

Flirty made his way to the training grounds, where Hefty Smurf was lifting weights.

Flirty strutted up. "Ah, strength! Power! The muscles of a champion! And yet, what is strength without love?"

Hefty set down his weight and arched a brow. "What do you want, Flirty?" He asked in that fondly exasperated, almost patronizing tone he so often used with Blossom's more ridiculous residents.

"A simple proposition! A romantic outing for the most dashing and strong Smurfs in the village."

Hefty snorted. "You do remember I'm with Smurfette, right?"

"She could always come along." Flirty suggested — looking back, this was perhaps his least wise decision of the day. He beat a hasty retreat, ducking to avoid a thrown dumbbell. "Perhaps another time..."

Back in the safety of the main village, he spotted Pilot Smurf, who was brushing the wings of one of his birds.

"Pilot, beauty of the sky!" Flirty purred, getting just a bit too close to the other Smurf. "Ever considered soaring into the skies of romance?"

Pilot put a single finger on his chest, lightly pushing him away. "Hello, Flirty. Sorry, but I've got some new birds to train, I don't have time for a date."

"Why not do both? Imagine — us, beneath the stars, the wind in our hats, my arms wrapped around you." He chuckled, dropping his voice to a suggestive whisper. "I can think of a few things I've never done on birdback before~"

"Absolutely not." Pilot said flatly.

Flirty pouted. Then he caught sight of Nosey, and went on to ask out the next Smurf on his list. And the next. And the next, next, next...

The day of hearts, day of love, 'twas finally here!

But one Smurf was alone, with none to hold near...

Blossom was alive with festivities, but one Mushroom remained dark, curtains drawn forlornly over the windows. Outside, a few Smurfs passed by, whispering.

"Poor Flirty. Got turned down by everysmurf." One said. "Maybe we should try to cheer him up?"

"Nah." Another shook their head. "Leave him be, we don't wanna make him feel any more humiliated than he already is."

With that decided, the Smurfs of Blossom avoided the rejected Smurf's house, leaving him alone so as not to remind him that he was alone. That's Smurf logic for ya.

Behind the locked door of his Mushroom, Flirty Smurf sat in an armchair front of his fireplace, wrapped in a blanket. A steaming mug of tea sat beside him, untouched, as he cracked open the latest novel in his favorite romance series.

"Ahhh, peace at last." He murmured, letting out a contented sigh.

The fire crackled, the world outside melted away, and Flirty Smurf — free from obligation — enjoyed the best night of all: one spent in perfect solitude with a good book.

His mission had been a complete success.

I think my edited versions are better XD

1: A Love Smurfed in Time

The Smurf village twinkled under the soft glow of fireflies and hanging lanterns, their light casting a warm, golden hue over the cozy mushroom homes. Tonight was a special night—Valentine’s Day. And though many Smurfs had paired off to celebrate in their own ways, none were quite as revered as the village’s eldest couple: Papa Smurf and Mama Smurf.

At a secluded table in the heart of the village, surrounded by flowers and a candle flickering between them, the two sat hand in hand, gazing into each other’s eyes.

"You still smurf my breath away, my dear," Papa Smurf murmured, his voice touched with warmth and wisdom.

Mama Smurf—once known as Warrior Smurf—smiled, the faint lines of age doing nothing to dull the fierce spark in her eyes. "And you still smurf my heart to race," she replied.

They sat in silence for a moment, lost in each other. And as the candle flickered, they were both smurfed back in time, to the very first day they met.

Years Ago

Young Alchemist Smurf, dressed in his simple tunic and carrying a small satchel, hummed to himself as he sifted through the undergrowth. He had ventured deep into the woods, farther than ever before, in search of a rare herb for his newest potion. The deeper he went, the more the familiar sounds of the village faded away, replaced by the rustling of leaves and distant hoots of owls.

Suddenly, a low, menacing growl made his heart stop. Alchemist barely had time to turn before a massive tabby cat leaped out from the underbrush, its eyes gleaming with hunger.

"Great Smurf!" Alchemist yelped, stumbling back as the cat swiped at him with sharp claws. He fumbled in his bag for something—anything—that might help, but before he could react, a blur of blue darted between him and the beast.

A female Smurf.

She stood tall, gripping a long spear, her golden-brown hair tied back in a tight braid. With fearless intensity, she drove the spear forward, forcing the cat to back away. "Get back, you fur-covered menace!" she growled, striking again with impressive precision.

Alchemist could only stare, wide-eyed. He had never seen a Smurf like her before—so strong, so commanding, her every move filled with fiery determination.

The cat hissed, swiping at her, but she ducked, rolling to the side before thrusting her spear into the dirt to push herself up. But even the best warriors weren’t untouchable. A quick strike from the cat’s claw sent her flying back, a deep scratch cutting across her arm.

"Warrior Smurf!" Alchemist cried, instinct taking over as he ran to her. She winced, holding her wounded arm, but still pushed herself up, defiant even in pain.

The cat seemed ready to lunge again, but a sharp whistle split the air—Alchemist had grabbed a vial from his satchel and thrown it at the ground. A burst of green smoke exploded between them, making the feline yowl and dart away.

For a long moment, there was only silence.

Warrior groaned, clutching her wound. "Smurf it all, that thing got me good," she muttered.

Alchemist was already pulling out more potions, his gentle hands guiding her to sit down. "Let me help. Please."

Warrior huffed but didn’t resist as he worked, his touch light but skilled. As he applied the healing salve, she looked at him curiously.

"You know, I’ve never met a Smurf like you before," she admitted. "Always thought healers and potion-makers were fragile."

Alchemist chuckled, his face warm with amusement. "And I always thought warriors were all brawn and no heart."

Warrior smirked. "Guess we were both wrong, huh?"

He nodded, securing the last bandage. "I think we make a good team."

She tested her arm, then gave him a smirk. "You saved me back there. I’m impressed."

"And you saved me first," he countered, eyes twinkling. "That makes us even."

They shared a look—one filled with something new, something unspoken but understood.

Alchemist grinned, standing up and offering his hand. "Come on. Let’s smurf our way back home together."

Warrior hesitated only for a moment before taking it, laughing as they stumbled through the woods side by side.

Present Day

The memory faded, but the warmth of it remained as Papa Smurf and Mama Smurf sat across from each other, still holding hands.

"You were the fiercest Smurf I had ever seen," Papa Smurf murmured, brushing his thumb over her knuckles.

"And you were the sweetest," Mama Smurf replied, squeezing his hand gently.

Their candle flickered between them, but their love burned stronger.

And as the village celebrated around them, the two simply sat together, lost in each other, in the love that had smurfed the test of time.

2: Title: A Smurfy Valentine’s Day

The Smurf Village was buzzing with excitement as Valentine’s Day approached. Pink and red decorations dotted the mushroom houses, and the air smelled sweet with the scent of fresh-baked cookies from Greedy’s kitchen. It was the first Valentine’s Day since Hefty and Smurfette had started dating, and Hefty was determined to make it perfect.

“Okay, okay… chocolates, flowers, candlelit dinner…” Hefty mumbled to himself as he paced back and forth outside his house, a list of ideas scribbled on a leaf in his hand. His muscles flexed unconsciously as he considered lifting a heavy log just to burn off some nervous energy, but he shook his head. Focus, Hefty, focus. This has to be smurfmazing.

He had spent weeks planning—smuggling a box of chocolates from Greedy’s kitchen (without eating them first, which was a feat of strength in itself), picking the brightest flowers from the outskirts of the forest, and even setting up a romantic dinner by the lake. Everything was in place. He just needed Smurfette to show up.

And so, as the sun dipped lower in the sky and painted the village in golden hues, Hefty stood by their meeting spot, a proud, confident grin on his face. She’s gonna love this.

But Smurfette never came.

Minutes turned into an hour. Hefty’s grin faded into confusion, then worry. Had something happened? He immediately envisioned all sorts of disasters—Gargamel kidnapping her, a hungry hawk swooping in, or even a freak accident involving a smurfberry pie explosion (he had seen it happen before).

His heart pounded as he jogged through the village, asking every Smurf he passed if they’d seen her. Eventually, he found her by the riverbank, sitting in a soft patch of grass, completely oblivious to the time. Her delicate hands worked carefully, twisting stems and weaving colorful petals together. Around her, a dozen beautiful flower crowns lay in a pile.

Hefty’s shoulders sagged. “Smurfette…” he said, his voice a mix of exasperation and affection.

Smurfette gasped and looked up, her blue cheeks turning several shades darker. “Oh, Hefty!” She bolted to her feet, knocking over a half-finished crown. “I—I forgot! Oh no! I can’t believe I forgot our first Valentine’s Day!”

She stared at him in horror, hands clapping over her mouth. “I got so caught up making flower crowns, I lost track of time! Oh, Hefty, I’m so, so sorry!”

For a moment, Hefty just stood there, muscles tense, his heart sinking. He had put so much effort into making this day perfect, and she had… forgotten.

But then, as he looked at her—her wide, guilty eyes, her hands nervously clutching a flower stem, the way she truly looked devastated—his disappointment softened. Smurfette loved making flower crowns. It was one of her favorite things to do. He knew that. And she had just gotten lost in the joy of it.

He sighed, rubbing the back of his neck before flashing her a reassuring smile. “It’s okay, Smurfette. I mean… yeah, I was kinda lookin’ forward to our plans, but…” He plopped down on the grass beside her and picked up one of the half-finished crowns. “I still wanna spend time with you. So… how do I do this?”

Smurfette blinked at him, then broke into a relieved, grateful smile. “Oh, Hefty, you’re the smurfiest.”

She sat back down beside him, pressing close as she handed him a few fresh flowers. “Here, I’ll show you.”

And just like that, the stress and frustration melted away. The world quieted, and all that mattered was the two of them sitting together, weaving flowers under the soft glow of the moon. Smurfette giggled as Hefty fumbled with a particularly stubborn stem, his strong fingers not quite suited for the delicate work.

“Maybe I should just punch ‘em into shape,” he joked, puffing out his chest.

Smurfette laughed. “That might work for lifting logs, but not for flower crowns, Hefty.”

As the night wore on, their pile of crowns grew, and their laughter filled the air. Hefty had never felt so relaxed. It wasn’t the Valentine’s Day he had planned, but it was theirs—peaceful, simple, and smurftastic in its own way.

Finally, Smurfette placed a finished crown on Hefty’s head, tilting it slightly to the side. “There. Perfect.”

Hefty chuckled, then gently set one on her head as well. “Nah, you’re the one who looks perfect.”

Smurfette’s heart fluttered as she leaned into him, their shoulders touching. “I really am sorry for forgetting, Hefty.”

He kissed her temple softly. “Don’t be. I still got what I wanted—spendin’ time with you.”

And as they sat there, watching the stars twinkle above, Hefty knew that he wouldn’t have changed a thing.

3: A Smurfy Valentine's Surprise

The crisp morning air of Smurf Village was filled with the scent of wildflowers and the warm hum of cheerful Smurfs preparing for Valentine’s Day. Everywhere, little red hearts were being placed on doors, and Smurfette was already drowning in cards and flowers.

Brainy Smurf, however, had no time for such frivolous activities. He sat at his desk, scribbling furiously in one of his many self-authored books. Today's topic? The Philosophical Musings of a Superior Smurf Mind, Volume 3.

Just as he adjusted his glasses and prepared to continue his writing, a loud thud followed by a startled “Gosh, sorry ‘bout that!” interrupted him. Brainy sighed. He didn’t even have to turn around to know who it was.

“Clumsy, what in Smurf’s name are you doing here?” Brainy huffed, crossing his arms as Clumsy sheepishly picked himself up off the floor, dusting off his hat.

“Well, I was hopin’ I could spend the day with ya, Brainy,” Clumsy said with a hopeful grin.

Brainy blinked. “Spend the day with me? On Valentine’s Day?” He adjusted his glasses. “Clumsy, surely you must be nervous about asking somesmurf out, and you’ve come to me for expert guidance. A wise decision, of course, given my expansive knowledge on the subject of romantic pursuits.”

Clumsy tilted his head. “Uh… no, I just—”

“Now, now! No need to feel self-conscious! It’s perfectly natural to feel overwhelmed when faced with such an important endeavor.” Brainy steepled his fingers and smirked. “Luckily for you, I am prepared to offer my superior matchmaking advice. Have you considered Firelily? She seems rather fond of you.”

Clumsy quickly waved his hands. “Oh! Uh, no! No, I—I don’t wanna ask Firelily out.”

Brainy frowned. “Clumsy, this lack of self-confidence is exactly what I’ve been trying to smurf out of you! I have said many times that you must learn to see yourself as a Smurf worthy of admiration! And I assure you, anysmurf in this village would be lucky to spend time with you.”

Clumsy, now looking more bewildered than ever, rubbed the back of his neck. “I, uh… I don’t really think I got that problem, Brainy.”

“Nonsense! We must work on your self-esteem! Now, let’s see…” Brainy tapped his chin. “Smurfette is, of course, in high demand, but perhaps we could smurf you in early for next year. Then there’s Blossom—oh, or how about Acorn? She has a soft spot for disaster-prone Smurfs.”

Clumsy sighed and put his hands on his hips. “Brainy, I don’t wanna spend Valentine’s Day with any o’ them.”

Brainy hesitated, pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose. “…You don’t?”

“Nope.”

Brainy folded his arms, looking at Clumsy with a scrutinizing gaze. “Then what do you want to do today?”

Clumsy beamed and, without another word, stepped past Brainy into his house, making a beeline for the large stack of books piled near the desk. He fumbled around for a moment before picking up one of Brainy’s many self-published volumes, the words The Smurfy Wisdom of Brainy Smurf, Volume 1 written in big, bold lettering on the front.

“This here’s the one I been tryin’ to read,” Clumsy explained, flipping through the pages. “But there’s a lotta big words, an’ I keep trippin’ over ‘em.” He looked up at Brainy, eyes full of innocent sincerity. “So I was hopin’ you’d spend today readin’ it out loud to me.”

Brainy’s mouth hung open slightly.

“…You want me to read my book to you?”

Clumsy nodded enthusiastically. “Yeah! I always liked the way ya read, Brainy. Y’ got a real smurfy voice, an’ yer always so passionate ‘bout what ya wrote.”

Brainy hesitated, caught between puffing up with pride and insisting that Clumsy should really spend Valentine’s Day doing something more… well, smurfy. “Clumsy, we can do that any other day. Valentine’s Day is about spending time with somesmurf special. Surely there’s somesmurf else you’d rather—”

“I am spendin’ the day with somesmurf special,” Clumsy interrupted, grinning widely. “You.”

Brainy’s glasses nearly slid off his nose as he stared at Clumsy, his mind catching up to the meaning behind those words.

Clumsy wanted to be his Valentine.

Brainy, for once, was speechless.

Seeing his friend still frozen, Clumsy tilted his head. “Uh, Brainy? You alright?”

Brainy cleared his throat, straightened his posture, and pushed his glasses back into place. “W-Well, if that is the case, then I suppose I can make an exception. After all, what better way to spend the day than imparting my superior wisdom to an eager listener?”

Clumsy’s grin widened, and he quickly plopped down onto a cushion, eyes shining with excitement. “Golly, that sounds amazin’!”

Brainy sat down across from him, adjusting the book in his hands. “Ahem. Now, let us begin… ‘The Smurfy Wisdom of Brainy Smurf, Volume 1: A Collection of the Most Brilliant Thoughts Ever Smurfed’…”

And so, as the rest of Smurf Village indulged in grand romantic gestures, fancy dinners, and heartfelt confessions, Brainy Smurf spent the day doing something entirely unexpected: reading his own words out loud to the one Smurf who actually wanted to hear them.

Clumsy, curled up and listening intently, hung on to every word, completely smitten.

Brainy, despite himself, found that—just this once—he didn’t mind the distraction.

It was, all things considered, a very smurfy Valentine’s Day.

The End.

4: A Smurfy Surprise

Jokey Smurf had been up since dawn, giggling to himself as he carefully assembled his most important prank of the year. This one was special. It wasn’t just any old exploding gift box—it was a Valentine's Day masterpiece.

The box itself was wrapped in shimmering red paper, adorned with an oversized pink bow. But instead of his usual smoke and harmless explosion, this one contained a shower of heart-shaped confetti and a tiny mechanical smurf that popped out to declare, "You're the smurfiest, Magician!" in a squeaky voice.

It was perfect.

Jokey knew Magician Smurf would roll her eyes, would cross her arms in that fondly exasperated way of hers, would mutter something about how she should have seen it coming. But she wouldn't be truly mad. She never was. She liked him, at least a little—enough to keep him in check, enough to put up with his antics, enough to cover for him when his pranks went just a smidge too far.

And maybe, maybe, she liked him just enough to appreciate this particular prank.

With a bounce in his step, he marched through the village and up to their shared mushroom house, rapping his knuckles against the wooden door.

"Magician!" he called. "Special delivery! A little something just for you!"

The door swung open, and Magician Smurf stood there, her usual purple hat slightly askew, an amused smirk on her lips.

"Just for me?" she echoed, taking the box.

"Go on, open it!" Jokey urged, barely able to contain his excitement.

She did, lifting the lid with a magician’s practiced ease—just as the confetti burst into the air and the tiny smurf figurine declared its message.

Jokey braced himself for the sigh, the head shake, the exasperated mutter.

What he did not expect was the slow, playful grin that spread across Magician’s face.

"Oh, Jokey," she purred, tapping a finger to her chin. "If I’d known you were giving me your heart today, I would’ve prepared a disappearing act—just to make you work harder to win it back."

Jokey blinked.

Wait.

That wasn’t exasperation. That wasn’t annoyance. That was… flirting.

He let out a nervous giggle, rubbing the back of his head. "Hah, good one, Magician! But, uh—wait, what?"

Magician winked, plucking a stray piece of heart-shaped confetti from his hat and flicking it playfully at him. "I’ll admit, I like a Smurf with a sense of humor. But tell me, Jokey—are you always this charming, or is today just special?"

Jokey’s brain short-circuited.

What.

What was happening.

Did Magician just flirt with him?

Did Magician just flirt with him?

The rest of the day was utterly smurfing bizarre.

Magician Smurf was smooth—way too smooth. Every time Jokey crossed paths with her, she had something to say that sent his heart racing.

When he walked past her at breakfast, she smirked over her cup and murmured, "What a shame—I should’ve pulled a rabbit out of my hat today. But I suppose I don’t need to when I already have a Jokey right in front of me."

Jokey nearly spilled his juice.

When he tried to prank Hefty Smurf with an exploding dumbbell, Magician appeared at his side, resting a hand on his shoulder. "Careful now, Jokey. You wouldn’t want to drop something that heavy—unless, of course, you were falling for me instead."

Jokey did drop something—the dumbbell, right on his own foot.

And when he attempted a classic prank on Brainy, swapping his book with a pop-up snake, Magician watched with lazy amusement before leaning in and whispering, "What’s this? A trick up your sleeve? If you wanted to impress me, Jokey, you could’ve just asked me on a date instead."

Jokey yelped, fumbled the book, and somehow got himself tangled in his own prank, ending up on the ground with a face full of paper snakes.

He sat up, dazed, as Magician chuckled, extending a hand to help him up. "You alright there, funny boy?"

Jokey took her hand, gripping it tight as he scrambled to his feet. He didn’t let go. "Okay, okay," he huffed. "Are you smurfing with me, or are you smurfing with me?"

Magician arched a brow. "Oh? What do you mean?"

Jokey crossed his arms, trying to regain some of his usual swagger. "This whole thing! The smurfy pick-up lines, the— the making me mess up my pranks! Are you actually into me, or is this just some big joke?"

Magician stared at him for a moment, then shook her head with a soft laugh. "Oh, Jokey. You’re adorable when you’re flustered."

Jokey opened his mouth to protest—

And then Magician leaned in, pressing a quick, soft kiss to his cheek.

Jokey froze.

"I like it when you're silly," she murmured, stepping back. "But I do like you, Jokey. So… what do you say? Dinner tonight?"

Jokey blinked.

Then he let out a breathless, stunned giggle. Then another. And another. Until he was laughing so hard his knees nearly buckled.

"Yes!" he finally managed between wheezes. "Yes, yes, yes—oh, smurf, I can’t believe it! I actually—Magician, you actually—ha! Ha ha ha!"

Magician smirked. "I’ll take that as a yes."

Jokey clutched his chest, still laughing. "Oh, this is the best prank ever!"

"It’s not a prank, Jokey." Magician chuckled, looping her arm through his. "But if it makes you feel better, you can still say you got the last laugh."

Jokey grinned. "Oh, I always do."

And for once, his heart felt lighter than his pranks.

5: More Than Flowers and Clouds

Grouchy Smurf had long since mastered the art of keeping expectations low, especially when it came to things like Valentine's Day. Over the years, he’d made it clear—repeatedly—that he hated the holiday, the pink hearts, the sappy love notes, the endless smooching. Nosmurf ever thought to include him in any romantic celebrations, and that suited him just fine.

So when Vanity spent the entire day avoiding him, Grouchy told himself he didn’t care.

…But he did.

Just a little.

Vanity was self-obsessed, sure, and Grouchy knew better than to expect anything from him. Still, the fact that Vanity was avoiding him at all gnawed at him. Not that Grouchy wanted flowers or chocolates or whatever ridiculous nonsense Smurfs gave each other today—but they spent most days together. It was normal. Familiar. And suddenly, Vanity was nowhere to be found.

Grouchy scowled harder than usual as he stomped through the village, hands clenched into fists. Fine. If Vanity didn’t want to see him, he wouldn’t see him. He was just going for a walk.

The air was crisp, the sky overcast, and Grouchy wandered far enough that he found himself at the edge of a small meadow. He paused, gaze flicking across the wildflowers swaying gently in the breeze.

They reminded him of Vanity.

Grouchy frowned. He hated flowers. He hated how fragile and delicate they were, how they didn’t last. But he knew Vanity loved wearing one behind his ear, and for some reason, that made them seem less terrible.

Before he could think about it too much, he knelt down, roughly plucking a small handful of the most vibrant ones.

It didn’t mean anything.

He just… didn’t hate Vanity.

When he returned to the village, the sun was beginning to set. Smurfs were laughing, sharing sweets, exchanging gifts. Grouchy ignored them, heading straight to Vanity’s mushroom house. He didn’t bother knocking—he just pushed open the door and stepped inside.

Vanity, sitting at his vanity (where else?), gasped. “Grouchy! You scared the beauty right out of me!” He clutched his hand mirror dramatically, but didn’t actually look away from his own reflection. “What are you doing here?”

Grouchy hesitated. Vanity was always difficult to read, but the fact that he still wouldn’t meet his gaze—not even through the mirror—made Grouchy’s frown deepen.

Without a word, he shoved the small bouquet of flowers toward Vanity. “Here.”

Vanity blinked. “What…?”

Grouchy shifted awkwardly, his scowl deepening. “I don’t hate you,” he muttered.

Vanity’s eyes flicked from his mirror to Grouchy—just for a second—before he gasped again, this time in delight. He snatched the flowers, holding them close as he beamed. “Oh, Grouchy! These are absolutely smurfy!”

Grouchy just grumbled, shifting from foot to foot. He was already regretting this.

Vanity, however, was practically glowing. “You do care! I knew it! Oh, I must repay you properly!” He set the bouquet down carefully before grabbing Grouchy’s wrist and pulling him across the room. “I have something for you too, darling, and I simply had to make sure it was perfect—”

He gestured toward a large, newly framed painting propped up against the wall.

Grouchy’s breath caught.

It was a portrait of the two of them, sitting on soft, fluffy clouds. The colors were gentle, dreamy. Vanity was, of course, posed perfectly, his beauty on full display. But Grouchy was there too, painted with a rare softness, a content expression on his face.

Vanity pressed a hand to his chest dramatically. “Oh, Grouchy, you would not believe how difficult it was getting Painter to capture my exact level of perfection—”

Grouchy barely heard him. He was still staring at the painting, at the clouds, at the warmth of it all.

“…So?” Vanity finally asked, tilting his head. He was looking at Grouchy now—not his mirror, him. Just for a moment. “Do you like it?”

For a second, Grouchy almost forgot how to scowl.

A small, barely-there smile flickered across his face.

Vanity’s eyes widened in delight, but before he could say anything, Grouchy quickly turned away.

“Whatever,” he muttered. “It’s fine.”

Vanity, grinning, leaned in and placed a quick, fluttering kiss against Grouchy’s cheek. Grouchy’s ears burned, but he didn’t move away.

Then, with a dramatic flourish, Vanity twirled back toward his mirror, picking through the flowers. “Now, which one should I wear first? This one complements my eyes, but this one—oh, Grouchy, the weather is simply horrid today, did you see what the wind did to my hair?!”

Grouchy, arms crossed, stood beside him, listening quietly.

He didn’t hate it.

And he didn’t hate Vanity, either.

6: A Smurfy Valentine's Day

The crisp morning air carried the scent of fresh-baked bread and sugared nuts through the Smurf village, mingling with the faint musk of parchment and stone dust that clung to Archeologist Smurf and Paleontologist Smurf—or, as they were better known, Archie and Leo.

Valentine’s Day had come again, which meant a day of grand romantic gestures for some, an elaborate game of avoidance for others, and for these two? A pleasant, meandering debate filled with snacks, light bickering, and a deep-seated sense of companionship that neither had ever truly put into words.

Archie adjusted his satchel, keeping his grip firm on the honey-roasted acorn clusters he’d purchased from Baker Smurf, while Leo carefully balanced a parchment cone of fried mushroom bites in one hand, a particularly interesting fossil in the other.

“This,” Leo said, waving the fossil for emphasis, “is solid proof that Smurfs might not have been the first sentient species in this region. Look at the markings—primitive, but intentional.”

Archie scoffed, popping an acorn into his mouth. “You’re smurfing at it all wrong. That’s not a tool, it’s a rock worn down by natural erosion. If anyone made that, it was probably an early Smurf.

Poet Smurf was dramatically reciting a love poem to Painter Smurf, who was too busy sketching to fully listen.

“Anyway,” Archie continued, “while you waste your time digging up questionable fossils, I actually contribute to Smurf history by studying real artifacts.”

Leo smirked, knowing exactly which buttons to push. “Real artifacts? You mean like that broken pot you swore was a lost relic of an ancient Smurf civilization, only for Handy Smurf to recognize it as a discarded project from last year?”

Archie scowled. “That was one time.”

Leo grinned. “And let’s not forget the infamous ‘holy spoon of the forgotten Smurfs,’ which turned out to be part of Papa Smurf’s old tea set.”

History is storytelling!”

Leo smirked, unfazed. “Mm-hmm.”

They continued on, stopping here and there for more snacks—some freshly baked bread rolls, a bit of candied fruit from Greedy Smurf, even a shared cup of hot spiced berry juice from Chef Smurf’s stand. The whole time, they kept up their usual banter, trading jabs and observations in a rhythm as familiar as breathing.

But somewhere along the way, Archie had started to think… maybe this was more than just a friendly outing. Maybe it was finally happening.

“You know,” he said as they reached the outskirts of the village, the buzz of Smurf festivities now a distant hum, “this has been a really nice Valentine’s Day date.”

Leo blinked. “…Date?”

Archie’s stomach dropped. That was not the reaction he had expected.

Leo, for all his usual smugness, looked genuinely caught off guard. “Wait—Archie, I thought we were just hanging out. Like we always do?”

Archie’s mouth suddenly felt dry. He adjusted his satchel unnecessarily. “Oh. Uh. Yeah. Yeah, of course.” He laughed, but it was forced. “Just a regular day out, right? No big deal.”

But Leo frowned, watching him closely. Archie was a lot of things—confident, exasperating, entirely too dramatic—but he wasn’t a liar.

And right now, he was lying through his teeth.

Leo set his food down on a nearby log, took a step forward, and—before Archie could react—leaned in and kissed him.

It was quick, just a small press of lips, but it was enough to leave Archie standing there, blinking in stunned silence.

“…What—?”

But if you want it to be a date—” He gave a small smirk. “—I’d love that.”

Archie’s brain struggled to catch up. “You… would?”

“Yeah.”

Archie stared at him for another beat before grinning, slow and wide. “Well then.” He dusted off his sleeves with exaggerated flair. “I suppose it’s time we do this properly, hm?”

Leo chuckled. “What, you gonna plan something extravagant now?”

“Not at all,” Archie said, nudging him forward as they began walking again. “I propose we continue our usual smurfing about, snacking, and arguing—but with the official status of a real date.”

Leo pretended to consider this. “…So, exactly what we were doing before?”

“Exactly.”

Leo laughed, grabbing his food again. “Alright then. But just so you know, I’m still right about the fossil.”

Archie groaned. “Leo—!”

And so, the two continued their way through the village, eating snacks, bickering, and—whether they realized it or not—falling into step with something warmer, something easier, something that had been there all along.

It was, in the end, a very good day.

7: A Smurfy Serenade

The air in Smurf Village was buzzing with excitement as Valentine's Day approached. Smurfs were busy crafting gifts, gathering flowers, and preparing sweet surprises for their loved ones. But no one was working as diligently as Tailor Smurf.

Inside his shop, he carefully stitched and adjusted a pair of sunglasses, his face a picture of concentration. These weren’t just any sunglasses—Tailor had designed them to be as stylish and unique as possible, just for his boyfriend, Harmony Smurf.

"Ah, mon amour will love these," Tailor said to himself, holding up the finished product. The lenses were shaped like musical notes, the frames carved with tiny, elegant treble clefs. They were the perfect gift.

Later that morning, Tailor found Harmony Smurf sitting on a tree stump, absentmindedly strumming his trumpet in a way that only he could enjoy. The moment he saw Tailor, Harmony grinned and set his instrument down.

"Tailor! My smurfling! What brings you here on this fine day?"

Tailor chuckled, keeping the sunglasses behind his back. "Happy Valentine's Day, Harmony. I made something special for you."

Harmony's eyes sparkled as Tailor revealed the sunglasses and gently placed them on his face. He admired himself in the reflection of a nearby window, adjusting them dramatically.

"Smurfy stars above, these are fantastic!" Harmony gushed, striking a pose. "I look like a true musical genius!"

"You are a genius, mon amour," Tailor said, chuckling.

Harmony gave him a sudden hug. "I must smurf you something in return! A gift of equal smurfiness!"

"You don’t have to—"

"Nonsense! I shall smurf you the greatest song you’ve ever heard! A love ballad straight from my heart!"

Tailor’s stomach clenched. Harmony’s music… was awful. Everyone in the village knew it. They endured it. And the idea of having to sit through a full song, just for him, filled Tailor with dread.

But he loved Harmony. And love meant sacrifice.

So, as Harmony ran off, proclaiming he would spend the rest of the day composing, Tailor sprinted back to his shop with a new mission: crafting a pair of earmuffs that looked decorative, but actually blocked out all sound.

All afternoon, Tailor sewed in secret, testing different padding, making sure they looked good enough to pass as a simple accessory.

"Voilà!" he whispered triumphantly, holding up the finished product. Now he could enjoy his romantic moment without… pain.

As evening fell, the Smurfs gathered in the village square, where Harmony had set up a small stage under the stars. Candles flickered, casting a warm glow.

Tailor, earmuffs discreetly tucked under his arm, sat in the front row, bracing himself.

Then Harmony stepped onto the stage with a dramatic flourish. "Tonight, my dearest Smurf, I give you my heart in song!"

Tailor swallowed. This was it. He subtly lifted the earmuffs—

"Smurf Quartet, begin!"

Tailor froze.

Wait.

Harmony wasn’t playing.

Instead, he lifted a baton and started conducting a group of Smurfs holding violins, a lyre, and a flute.

Soft, enchanting music filled the air, perfectly timed under Harmony’s guidance. His hands moved gracefully, cueing each musician, bringing harmony (real harmony) to the melody.

It was… beautiful.

Tailor lowered the earmuffs in astonishment, watching his boyfriend with awe. The music swelled, carrying through the village, blending with the rustling of the trees and the soft glow of fireflies.

When the song ended, the Smurfs burst into applause. Tailor stood and ran to Harmony, throwing his arms around him.

"Harmony! That was… amazing!"

Harmony beamed. "You like it?"

"I love it!"

"Smurfy! I realized that, perhaps, I am not the best musician. But I am a great conductor! I wanted my song for you to be perfect, so I asked for a little help."

Tailor’s heart swelled with warmth. "It was perfect, mon amour."

Harmony grinned. "Then my mission is complete."

Tailor laughed, then cupped Harmony’s cheek. "You are the most wonderful Smurf in the village, and I am the luckiest to have you."

The two Smurfs shared a kiss under the starry sky as the music played on, their love in perfect harmony at last.

8: A Smurfy Valentine’s Day

The morning air was crisp with the lingering chill of dawn, and atop the emerald hill overlooking Smurf Village, two figures sat on a checkered blanket. Painter Smurf and Poet Smurf, both wrapped in scarves against the early breeze, had set up their little picnic as the sun stretched its golden fingers across the sky.

A basket, brimming with fresh berries and smurf-made chocolate, rested between them. Painter, his beret tilted at a jaunty angle, sketched the lazy clouds drifting above, his fingers dancing over the paper like a composer conducting a silent symphony.

"No, non, that was magnifique, mon Poète!" Painter insisted, peering over his sketchpad. "The sky does blush, like a maiden caught in a lover’s gaze. Ah, but perhaps… 'drops of dew' could be ‘pearls anew’—a fresh morning gift, n'est-ce pas?"

Poet hummed, eyes twinkling at the suggestion.

"Pearls anew, like nature’s prize,

Glistening soft beneath sunrise…"

He grinned, pleased with the revision, and scribbled it down.

The morning passed in this fashion—Poet musing aloud, changing words, crafting lines; Painter listening, nodding, offering thoughts in return while his pencil skated across the page. Now and then, they reached for the same berry at once, their fingers brushing, leading to soft chuckles and bashful smiles.

As the afternoon melted into evening, Painter set his sketchpad aside and pulled out his easel. "Ah, mon amour, le moment parfait! Look at ze sky—she is ready to pose for me!"

Poet leaned back, admiring the vibrant spread of oranges, purples, and pinks spilling across the heavens.

"A canvas vast of fire and light,

A dream unfurls in fading sight…"

He sighed, watching as Painter mixed his colors with the precision of a maestro preparing for his grandest symphony. With each brushstroke, the sunset took form—soft yet passionate, bold yet delicate.

For once, it was Poet’s turn to admire and critique.

"Ah, my dear, the strokes are strong,

But there, the shade—just a bit wrong.

A deeper red, a softer hue,

To match the evening’s golden view!"

Painter chuckled, adjusting the colors as Poet suggested. "Mmm, oui, you have ze eye of an artist, mon Poète. Perhaps you should paint, and I shall rhyme, non?"

Poet smirked.

"Oh, my love, let’s not pretend,

Your art outshines my words—again!"

"Not just ze painting, mon amour. Ze whole day—it was… parfait."

Without a word more, they leaned in, sharing a soft, lingering kiss, the taste of chocolate still on their lips. When they pulled away, they simply sat there, hand in hand, watching the last rays of the sun slip beneath the horizon.

It was nothing grand, nothing extravagant—just a simple date, as so many before. A day spent indulging in their two great loves: art, poetry… and each other.

Perfect, in every way.

9: The Smurfiest Story of All

It was Valentine's Day in Smurf Village, and everywhere Smurfs bustled about with excitement. Love-smudged letters passed hands, heart-shaped cookies baked in ovens, and even Grouchy Smurf—reluctantly—accepted a pink card from a giggling Sassette.

But one Smurf had no time for such foolishness. Nosey Smurf hunched over her desk in the village newspaper office, scribbling frantically as ink stained her fingers.

No promises.

As soon as she was out the door, her shadow trailed behind her—a quiet, steady presence. Camera Smurf, ever loyal, hoisted his oversized camera strap higher onto his shoulder. He didn’t say much, didn’t need to. Wherever Nosey went, he followed.

Nosey smirked. "C'mon, Camera. Let’s smurf us a scoop!"

The hunt began.

• • •

All day, Nosey peeked behind bushes, ducked under tables, and climbed rooftops, searching for something worth printing.

She spotted Handy Smurf and Smurfette sharing a box of chocolates—boring, everyone saw that coming.

Vanity Smurf serenading his own reflection—predictable.

Jokey Smurf giving a suspiciously wrapped 'present' to Brainy Smurf—just another Tuesday.

Time and time again, she scribbled notes, only to cross them out. Nothing was exciting enough. Nothing felt like the story.

Meanwhile, Camera Smurf never said a word, simply snapping pictures whenever he pleased. His lens clicked softly, though she never once saw what he was photographing.

• • •

Evening fell. The once-lively village was now bathed in warm, golden light. The scent of flowers and fresh-baked sweets still lingered in the air, but Nosey didn’t feel like celebrating.

She slumped onto a tree stump in the middle of the square, shoulders sagging in defeat. "It’s hopeless," she muttered. "All day, I’ve been smurfing my tail off looking for a big scoop, and what do I have? Nothing!" She threw her notebook onto the grass in frustration.

Camera Smurf stood beside her, silent as ever.

"I wasted my whole smurfing day," she continued bitterly. "Not like anysmurf was waiting for me to smurf something else, anyway. It’s not like somesmurf wants to go out with the annoying gossip queen." She laughed weakly, then bit her lip. "Might as well work, right? At least then I don’t have to think about it."

A sniffle escaped before she could stop it.

Then, without a word, Camera Smurf sat beside her. He opened his satchel and pulled out a stack of freshly developed photos.

Nosey blinked as he placed them in her hands. "What’s this?"

The first picture showed her scribbling furiously in her notebook, eyes bright with excitement. The next, peering over a rooftop with determined focus. Another, smiling as she whispered conspiratorially behind a tree.

One after another, she flipped through the photos. They were all of her—not just working, but being herself.

Passionate. Fierce. Strong.

Her lip trembled. "You… You spent the whole day taking pictures of me?"

Camera Smurf nodded.

"...Why?"

For a long moment, he was silent, his eyes searching hers. Then, with a quiet grunt, he lifted his arm and wrapped it around her shoulders, pulling her close.

Nosey’s breath hitched. Camera was not the touchy-feely type. But here he was, warm and steady beside her, holding her like she was something precious.

Like she was loved.

Her eyes stung. She leaned into him, gripping the photos tightly as the weight of the day melted away.

"...Guess I did smurf up a good story after all," she whispered.

Camera Smurf hummed in agreement.

And for once, she let herself believe it.

10: Flirty Smurf’s Secret Valentine

The Smurf Village buzzed with pre-Valentine’s Day excitement. Decorations were going up, sweets were being made, and Smurfs whispered about potential dates for the big day. In the midst of it all, Flirty Smurf twirled his mustache, straightened his rose-colored scarf, and smirked at his reflection in a shop window.

"Ah, amore!" he sighed dramatically. "Tomorrow, romance shall bloom! But who shall be the lucky Smurf to join me in a night of passion? Ah-ha-ha!" With a dramatic flick of his cape—one he didn’t actually own but always pretended to have—he set out to secure a date.

His first stop was Honey Smurf, who was carefully tending to her beehives.

"Honey, my sweet as honey! Have you any plans for tomorrow, or shall I be the honey to your heart?" Flirty leaned on her fence, flashing a dazzling grin.

Honey didn’t even look up. "I have plans. Checking my bees."

"A romantic stroll by moonlight would be far sweeter, no?"

"They might swarm you."

Flirty considered this, gave a slight nod, and backed away. "Point taken."

Next, he found Smurfette, arranging flowers in her window.

"Ah, the beauty of the village! The flower among weeds! The angel among—"

"No, Flirty," Smurfette said before he could finish.

"But I haven’t even asked yet!" he protested.

"You were going to ask me to be your Valentine," she said, plucking a rose. "And the answer is no. I still remember last year when you recited poetry in the middle of the square."

Flirty gasped. "But my words were from the heart!"

"They were from Poet’s book, and you replaced ‘love’ with ‘Smurfette’ in every line."

"...Ah-ha-ha! A coincidence, surely!" Flirty twirled away with as much dignity as he could muster.

At Tailor Smurf’s shop, he leaned against the doorway, arms crossed, eyes smoldering.

"My dear Tailor, I find myself in need of something special for tomorrow. A suit fit for romance, for passion, for—"

"You want to take me out for Valentine’s Day, don’t you?" Tailor didn’t even look up from his sewing.

"Astute as always, my talented tailor!" Flirty snapped his fingers. "So what say you? A dinner, candlelight, perhaps a—"

"I'm working on twenty orders for tomorrow," Tailor interrupted. "No."

"Alas! Tragic timing!"

With a theatrical sigh, Flirty departed and made his way to the training grounds, where Hefty Smurf was lifting weights.

Flirty strutted up. "Ah, strength! Power! The muscles of a champion! And yet, what is strength without love?"

Hefty set down his weight and arched a brow. "What do you want, Flirty?"

"A simple proposition! A romantic outing for the most dashing and strong Smurfs in the village."

Hefty snorted. "You wouldn’t last five minutes on a training date with me."

"And you wouldn’t last five minutes resisting my charm," Flirty countered with a smirk.

"Try me."

"...Perhaps another time."

After a hasty retreat, he found Nosey Smurf standing outside her house, eavesdropping on a conversation between two Smurfs.

Flirty leaned in and whispered, "Nosey, my dear, I’d love to spend an evening hearing all the whispers of your heart."

She turned and grinned. "Ohhh, you want to take me out? Soooo, you like me?"

Flirty winked. "My interest knows no bounds!"

"I gotta go tell every Smurf!" she declared, already dashing off.

Flirty barely dodged out of the way before she could spread the news. "That’s a no, then?"

Finally, he spotted Pilot Smurf, who was adjusting the wings on his latest flying contraption.

"Pilot, my high-flying friend! Ever considered soaring into the skies of romance?"

Pilot raised a brow. "Are you asking me to go on a date or test-fly my glider?"

"Why not both? Imagine—us, beneath the stars, the wind in our hair, my arms wrapped around—"

"Absolutely not."

Flirty sighed dramatically and trudged away. His mission was a failure.

Valentine’s Day, Flirty’s House

The village was alive with festivities, but one house remained dark. Behind its locked door, Flirty Smurf sat in front of his fireplace, wrapped in a warm blanket. A steaming mug of tea sat beside him, untouched, as he cracked open the latest novel in his favorite romance series.

"Ahhh, peace," he murmured, sinking into the pages.

Outside, a few Smurfs passed by, whispering.

"Poor Flirty. Got turned down by everyone," one said.

"Yeah," another agreed. "Let him have his alone time. He must be miserable."

Inside, Flirty turned the page with a contented sigh.

"And they lived happily ever after," he whispered.

The fire crackled, the world outside melted away, and Flirty Smurf—free from obligation—enjoyed the most romantic night of all: the one spent in perfect solitude with a good book.

Chapter 9: Chapter 12: Prompts

My original prompts for each story, just in case you're interested in making ChatGPT stories id your own and want to see how I got the results that I did :)

1: First Sight

Please write a Smurf fanfic with this plot:

Papa/Alchemist Smurf and Mama/Warrior Smurf are having a Valentine's Day dinner. As they gaze into each other's eyes, the elderly Smurfs remember how they first met.

Years ago, when Alchemist was young, he went out into the woods to find potion ingredients. He went very far, only to be attacked by a cat. He was saved by a female Smurf that had been training nearby, Warrior. As Warrior fought off the cat with her spear, Alchemist looked on in wonder. She was the fiercest Smurf he'd ever seen, fire and passion and beauty.

Warrior scared off the cat, but she got badly hurt. Alchemist used some of his potions to treat her wounds, talking as he bandaged her up. As Alchemist healed her, Warrior looked on in wonder. He was the sweetest Smurf she'd ever met, light and kindness and wisdom.

Alchemist helped the injured Warrior get back to the village, the two laughing as they struggled home. The two have been inseparable ever since.

2: Flower Crowns

Can you please write a Smurf fanfic with the following plot:

Hefty and Smurfette have started dating. Valentine's Day is coming up. Hefty is stressed, trying to make sure that their first Valentine's Day together is absolutely perfect, obsessing over plans and classic things like chocolates/flowers/candlelit dinners.

Only for Smurfette to forget their date, having gotten caught up making flower crowns. Smurfette is apologetic and horrified to have forgotten their first Valentine's, but Hefty understands that she got distracted in one of her favorite hobbies and isn't mad at her. Hefty is disappointed, however, and still really wants to spend time with her.

So they spend the rest of the evening making flower crowns together. It's quiet, peaceful, and fun. They laugh and lean against each other as they sit and twist flower stems together. It might not be a classic sort of Valentine's, but it's special and theirs. Hefty's stress melts away as he spends a calm sort of date with the woman he loves.

(I see Hefty as a guy that's strong, loves to show off, and isn't always the brightest. But he's aswell protective, loving, and open.)

3: Somesmurf Special

Please write a Smurf fanfic with the following plot:

Clumsy comes to Brainy's house on Valentine's Day, with Brainy questioning why he's there. Clumsy says he wants to spend the day with him, making Brainy think that Clumsy is nervous about asking somesmurf out for a date.

Brainy offers to help Clumsy find a date, specifically mentioning that Clumsy's friend Firelily might be interested. Clumsy stops him from actually doing anything to help, saying he doesn't want to ask Firelily out.

Brainy admonishes what he perceives as a lack of self-esteem in Clumsy, not for the first time (Clumsy doesn't have low self-esteem, Brainy just often misinterprets Clumsy's willingness to be friends with and listen to Brainy as such, because Brainy himself secretly has low self esteem and doesn't realize it). Brainy promises to help Clumsy's be more confident, saying anysmurf in the village would be lucky to go out with Clumsy. He lists a few more Smurfs that Clumsy could ask out on a date.

Clumsy reiterates that he doesn't *want* to spend Valentine's Day with any of those Smurfs. Brainy asks what he does want to do, insisting he really wants to know, so Clumsy walks into Brainy's house and grabs one of Brainy's books (Brainy often makes books of his own sayings and ideas, believing them to be filled with wisdom. Everysmurf except Clumsy disagrees, thinking them to be arrogant nonsense). Clumsy says he's been having trouble reading the book due to all the big words, and says he wants to spend the day listening to Brainy read it out loud.

Brainy says he would love to read his books to Clumsy, but insists they could do it a different day, because surely Clumsy would rather spend the holiday of love with somesmurf special. Clumsy replies that he *does* want to spend the day with somesmurf special; Brainy!

Finally beginning to understand that Clumsy is trying to ask him to be his Valentine, Brainy spends the rest of the day reading his books out loud to an overjoyed Clumsy.

(Remember that Clumsy speaks with a southern accent, is very clumsy, and often says things like 'gosh', 'gee', or 'golly'. Brainy uses a lot of big words and wears glasses.)

4: Flustered

Please write a Smurf fanfic with this plot:

Jokey Smurf and Magician Smurf are roommates.

Jokey is used to Magician acting fondly exasperated at his pranks and shenanigans, used to Magician keeping him in check even when providing Jokey with an alibi, used to Magician enduring and tolerating him. Used to Magician liking him just a little.

Jokey has a crush on Magician, so gives her a special Valentine's Day prank. He expects her to act annoyed and tell him off for it, but is hopeful she might like it. How he absolutely does not expect her to react is by flirting with him, but that's precisely what happens.

Magician flirts with him throughout the day, smoothly dropping different pick-up lines, leaving Jokey flustered and confused (so much so that he fumbles a few of his pranks, which backfire on him.). Jokey likes the attention from Magician, but is worried that it might not be real, that maybe she's just messing with him.

Eventually, Jokey gets the courage to start flirting back, the normally confident Smurf fumbling a bit as he tries to flirt. Magician laughs at his attempt, calling him silly, making Jokey angrily ask her if she's really interested in him or just messing with him. Magician tells him she likes it when he's silly, kissing his cheek and asking him out to dinner. Jokey, finally sure the flirting's legitimate, says yes.

(Remember that Jokey has a habit of laughing and giggling a lot, loves pranks and explosives, and is very energetic)

5: Unexpected

Please write a Smurf fanfic with the following plot:

Vanity is self-obsessed and Grouchy has said many times that he hates Valentine's Day, so nosmurf expects the couple to actually celebrate the holiday. Neither of them really expects the other to do anything special either.

When Vanity outright avoids him, Grouchy tries not to feel too bitter about it, going for a walk to cheer up (as much as the ever grumpy Smurf is capable of cheering up). He ends up finding a field of wildflowers that remind him of Vanity, and Grouchy decides to pick a few to give to the beauty-obsessed Vanity (Vanity likes wearing a flower behind one ear).

He returns to village with his small bouquet, giving it to Vanity with a quiet and grumpy (and somewhat shy) admission that he doesn't hate Vanity (Grouchy's way of saying he loves him). Vanity is overjoyed and hugs Grouchy, before surprising him with a gift of his own; the reason Vanity was avoiding him all day was because he commissioned Painter to make a special portrait of Vanity and Grouchy sitting on some clouds (Grouchy secretly loves clouds), and Vanity had to make sure Painter captured his beautiful features just right (even when giving a thoughtful gift, Vanity is still self obsessed).

Grouchy gives a very brief, small, soft smile — a sign he's very happy with the gift. Vanity kisses his cheek, and then starts rambling about his own beauty and which flower from Grouchy's bouquet he's going to wear first and how the weather is horrible today and–

Grouchy quietly listens with his usual frown, enjoying the other's presence and studying his new painting.

(My version of Vanity doesn't like eye contact, so he looks into his hand mirror at his own reflection even when speaking to someone, only occasionally glancing at them. He looks at Grouchy slightly more than most, but still doesn't like taking his gaze away from his mirror for too long. Grouchy tends to say he hates or dislikes just about anything and everything, even if he doesn't really, but avoids saying such about Vanity or Vanity's appearance).

6: Fortunate Mistakes

Please write a Smurf fanfic with the following plot:

Archeologist 'Archie' Smurf and Paleontologist 'Leo' Smurf spend Valentine's Day walking around the village, eating snacks as they go, and arguing about artifacts/fossils/etc.

Archie thinks it's a date. Leo is surprised when he says this, having thought they were having a day out as friends like they usually do. Archie's upset but tries to pretend he's not, saying it's fine if they're just friends.

Leo surprises him by kissing him and saying he'd love to be more. So the two go on an actual date, eating snacks as they walk through the village, arguing about their respective fields. It's a good day for both of them.

(Archie and Leo kinda have dad energy but aren't dads. They're just those two guys, always together and down to earth, quirky in their own way but not getting caught up in big adventures like most other Smurfs do.)

7: Serenade

Please write a Smurf fanfic with this plot:

Tailor Smurf creates a fancy pair of sunglasses for his boyfriend, Harmony Smurf, for Valentine's Day. Harmony is touched and announces that he will give Tailor a song in return.

The only problem is that Harmony is completely tone deaf, his music sounding absolutely terrible to everyone else than him. Tailor doesn't want to hurt his boyfriend's feelings by cringing away from his terrible music, so spends the rest of the day sewing a special pair of decorative-looking earmuffs that will block out the sound so he can pretend to enjoy the song.

That evening, Harmony surprises Tailor by conducting other Smurfs in a song rather than playing it himself. Harmony is great at conducting, and the song is absolutely beautiful, creating a lovely star-lit atmosphere. Harmony and Tailor have a lovely date, sharing in a kiss.

8: A Day Like Any Other

Please write a Smurf fanfic with this plot:

Painter and Poet have a picnic on a hill, starting early in the morning. They eat chocolate and berries, and Poet reads some poetry, mostly pondering out loud as he tries to write new poems (sometimes pausing or rewording something as he workshops it). Painter listens, complimenting and giving constructive criticism, as he sketches what he sees around him. When evening falls, Painter sets up his canvas and begins to paint the sunset, with Poet now the one to compliment and criticize Painter. They share a soft kiss when the painting is finished, quietly enjoying each other's presence.

It's a date like so many they've been on before, romantic but nothing special, despite the fact that it's Valentine's Day. It's a date where they enjoy their two loves; each other and their respective crafts (poetry and art). Despite not being anything big or out of the ordinary, it's perfect for them.

Painter has a French accent, and Poet always speaks in verse/rhymes (even when not reading/creating poetry). They are both passionate, overdramatic, and emotional. Painter calls Poet 'Poète' (the French word for 'Poet') and 'mon amour' (French term for 'my love').

9: Somesmurf Loves You

Please write a Smurf fanfic with the following plot:

Nosey writes articles for the village newspaper. Despite Editor telling her to take the day off and enjoy herself, Nosey's certain that she can get a big scoop on Valentine's Day. So she stalks around the village spying on other Smurfs, using up her whole day with work, trailed by her loyal assistant; Camera Smurf.

As Nosey becomes more obsessed and desperate to get a big story, Camera quietly supports her and keeps taking pictures throughout the day. Finally, Nosey gives up, lamenting that she's failed to find a story. Nosey bitterly adds that at least she didn't waste the day, as it's not like anysmurf would want to go out with the village's resident annoying gossip queen anyways (she's pretty much spent the day distracting herself from this disbelief with work). She sits on the ground and cries.

Camera sits next to her shows her the pictures he's taken throughout the day. He's spent the entire day taking pictures of her, passionate and in her element, beautiful and strong. He puts his arm around her and hugs her close, comforting her and showing her that there is indeed somesmurf who loves her.

(Camera isn't mute, but he doesn't talk much, usually just grunting or nodding/shaking his head. He's quiet and stoic, not emoting much, but loyal and caring and supportive towards Nosey. He carries a too-big camera on a strap around his neck, hence his name.)

10: Planning Ahead

Please write a Smurf fanfic with the following plot:

Flirty Smurf flirts in an over-the-top way, putting off any potential suitors (but never getting grabby or crossing any big lines, he's forward not bad). On the day before Valentine's Day, he tries to ask several Smurfs if they'd be his date, asking if they have any plans for the holiday, but his strong flirting makes them reject him

He asks Honey (a female beekeeping Smurf), Smurfette (female), Tailor (male), Hefty (male), Nosey (female), and Pilot (male). They all say no, some politely and some less so, leaving him alone on Valentine's Day.

On the holiday, Flirty shuts his windows, locks his door, and sits in front of his fireplace. There's a somber and forlorn air of rejection in the story... Right up until he pulls out a romance novel and snuggles under a blanket, spending a cozy Holiday reading by himself. Turns out his over-the-top flirting was just a tactic to make sure nosmurf would make him go out, and he could instead read in peace, not being bothered because everysmurf felt sorry for him.

Your welcome 😁

Sundannsair via AO3 on Chapter 1 · 2025-05-01

Oh, yes, Brainy x Clumsy!!!😍😍😍😍😍 My most favourite pairing of all❤️

I love how dense Brainy can be when it comes to feelings, and how sweet and patient Clumsy is towards him. Their relationship, though dysfunctional, but it works only for them, I can never have enough of it.

"So yah're jus' spendin' tha day alone?" Clumsy asked. At Brainy's slightly-hesitant nod, he smiled. "Well, so am ah! Maybe we c'n spend it alone together?"

"Because he was alone with somesmurf special, and that truly made all the difference."

These were so sweet💞💞💞

“This here’s one ah been tryin’ tah read lately,” Clumsy explained to a bewildered Brainy, “but there’s a lotta big words, an’ ah keep, well, trippin’ over ‘em." 🤣🤣🤣

Lovely read, thank you for sharing this!❤️❤️❤️

Arukir Author via AO3 2025-05-01

Your comments are always so nice, thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed 😊

Brainy is smarter in IQ and pure knowledge, but Clumsy more than has him beat in EQ and patience 😂

Clumsy/Brainy is one of the best ships there is.

Sundannsair via AO3 2025-05-01

True words! Brainy is absolute book-smart, while Clumsy has greater understanding about feelings and stuff☺️

The pleasure is mine, finally I have the time to enjoy your fics in peace!❤️

Arukir Author via AO3 2025-05-02

I'm glad you enjoy them so much! 😊

Sundannsair via AO3 on Chapter 3 · 2025-05-01

Love rarepairs😍😍😍 It was refreshing to read about them too. What's better than love that's casual, right?😍

"Poet Smurf stood on the fountain ledge, dramatically reciting a love poem to Painter Smurf, who was too busy sketching to fully listen but still nodded along to the words." It's so them😍😍😍

Arukir Author via AO3 2025-05-01

Archie and Leo were definitely fun to write. Glad you enjoyed 😁

Poet is sooo dramatic and Painter is just like "That's nice, dear" 😂😆😂

Sundannsair via AO3 2025-05-01

Just wait till we got a share of Painter's temper😉 I love those two little artists, they would be such a perfect pair!

Sundannsair via AO3 on Chapter 4 · 2025-05-01

I never thought I would find this pairing, but I can see the appeal. Grumpy little tailors also need some sunshine after all😉

"The lenses were shaped like musical notes, the frames carved with tiny, elegant treble clefs." Okay, I need these glasses!😍

"No one with ears could actually enjoy Harmony's music, except for the trumpeter himself." True words😅

Arukir Author via AO3 2025-05-01

Tailor and Harmony shouldn't work, but like, they just really do???

I'm glad you enjoyed 😊

Sundannsair via AO3 2025-05-01

Opposites attract😁

Sundannsair via AO3 on Chapter 7 · 2025-05-01

Okay, not gonna lie, you got me😄 I almost started to pity the poor bastard😄

" But my words were from the heart!" "They were from Poet’s book, and you replaced ‘love’ with ‘Smurfette’ in every line."🤣🤣🤣

"My dear Handy, I find myself in need of some special help for tomorrow." Flirty wiggled his eyebrows suggestively. "It seems my heart has broken right in two, and I was hoping you could–" Why is this so smooth? I can totally imagine it as a pick-up line and if I want to be completely honest, even though I hate flirting, in Handy's place I think I have been tempted to say yes for a moment😁

These were lovely, and if you ever feel like posting more, I'll be eager to read them too!❤️❤️❤️

Arukir Author via AO3 2025-05-01

Flirty is my favorite Smurf OC purely because of the bait-and-switch potential. He knows EXACTLY how annoying he is, and he's weaponized it 😂

Glad you enjoyed 😊

Sundannsair via AO3 2025-05-01

Nothing's better than being able to use your abilities to your advantage😉 He's a fun OC, I enjoyed how you've built him up.

I always enjoy your writings, can't wait to read more!❤️

Arukir Author via AO3 2025-05-02

Flirty was a LOT of fun to write, lol. Glad you like him and my stories 😊

Gontonyak via AO3 on Chapter 2 · 2026-02-14

Awww! They are so adorable together! 😍🥰😍

Beautiful Gloom is my favorite Smurf couple! (Except maybe Hefty & Smurfette, of course).

Happy Valentine's day!

Gontonyak via AO3 on Chapter 5 · 2026-02-15

"A perfect day indeed, sitting here with you,

Creating and making things bright and new.

I can't think of something more quiet and quaint,

Than to sit here and rhyme all day as you paint.

I love their calm love! It's so lovely and pure 😊

Sometimes love is big, and bold, and romance.
Other times it's quiet, and peaceful, and familiar.

Gontonyak via AO3 on Chapter 6 · 2026-02-15

(The post is not supposed to run right after a holiday)
(In Nosey's defense, that just meant that Editor wasn't around to stop her)

😂 😂 😂

Also, OMG THIS WAS SO ADORABLE!!! THEY ARE SOOO CUTE! 😍 😍 😍

Cam reminds me of Big Mac, only a bit younger (if that makes sense?).
