Megamind Soulbind AU

Chapter 1: Soulbind AU

The idea basically goes like this:

When humans are born, they come out with a little white creature attached to them. This creature basically just looks like a fluffy ball with tiny legs and big eyes.

These creatures are called Soulbinds.

At a certain point, maybe puberty, the Soulbind goes into a chrysalis stage for a week or two. When they come out, they closely resemble some animal or other.

Soulbinds can't talk, but they can read and write, and can understand language. They possibly have a language that other Soulbinds can understand, but I haven't decided yet.

Soulbinds are very helpful, often remembering important stuff for their humans, cheering them up, taking care of small tasks, etc.

Minion is not a Soulbind. Only humans have Soulbinds. But he's really close, close enough to be more-or-less considered Megamind's weird talking Soulbind.

Metro Man has a 'technically not a Soulbind but kinda is' as well. A giant golden bird-of-prey-like creature named Scout. Scout is mute, other than loud screeching sounds, but can communicate telepathically with Minion (their species evolved this to coordinate efforts to keep Megamind's and Metro Man's species alive).

Minion and Scout were never little white creatures and never had a chrysalis stage. They were as well born separately from their Bonded, and could technically reproduce if they somehow encountered another member of their respective species, unlike actual Soulbinds.

Roxanne's Soulbind resembles a red squirrel. Her name is Snap.

The following chapters will be whatever random adventures I think up for Minion, Scout, and Snap.
