Summary

I overanalyzed my own (AI-generated) Looney Tunes fanart and came up with a really cool plot outline about three coyotes surviving in a post-apocalyptic setting... Oops?

Update: Aaaand now I've got villains and way more lore. Double oops??

Anyone who wants to write a fic of this story may. Just please comment so I can read it! :)

Chapter 1: Plot Outline & Synopsis

An outline for the plot and some art at the characters.
The top artwork is the one that inspired all of this.

Does anyone know how far I could run with this without being sued? Because I'm really caught up in this idea now...

It would make such a cute cartoon, wouldn't it? A bit of an edge, but mostly feel-good found family fluff with some plot and survival themes.

The main characters are from a species that is intelligent but isn't quite at a human level. They live alongside humans and other sapient species in a world recovering from a major disaster, leaving pockets of civilization amidst a post-apocalyptic world. The Pockets are relatively advanced and comfortable, like domed cities guarding the last of true civilization, built up painstakingly after the end.

Grey is a young pup that lives in one of these Pockets. Something happens and his life falls apart around him, leaving him stranded in the Wilds.

Grey is found and taken in by Green, a glowing mutant with mysterious origins (accidentally mutated, the ones behind it tried to capture him, he escaped into the Wilds). Green is confident, upbeat, and strong — but (while older than Grey) he's still not an adult and the two pups struggle in the unfamiliar, harsh environment of the Wilds.

Brown is a lone traveler who's spent his life in the Wilds. Starving but surviving, he's forgotten what it's like to live a life that's more than just getting to the next day — until he finds two lost pups and remembers what it's like to love.

All three are intelligent, but in different ways. Brown has the cunning, wary intelligence of one who knows how to make it in a dangerous world. Green has the calm, calculating intelligence of one who's used to having the freedom of learning and solving puzzles for his own amusement. Grey has the open curiosity and endless potential of well cared-for youth.

Grey is used to an easy life and is borderline naive — but he adapts quickly. Just because he's never known hardship before this doesn't mean he'll let it destroy him now.

Grey's boundless, happy energy and Green's fun-loving, irrepressible confidence bring hope and wonder back into Brown's once bleak life.

Together, they survive the Wilds not as three wildly different coyotes — but as a pack. A family.

(As well, real coyote dads play ambush games with their pups in order to train them when the environment's gotten more dangerous, so Brown playing games like hide-and-seek with the pups is 100% likely and I love that)

I love this idea so much! I don't think you'd be sued...

Thanks! :)

I’m not the type to praise writers for no reason, but when a story really clicks with me, I have to say something and yours did. How did you create something this good?

Arukir Author via AO3 2026-01-07

Gee, thanks! I'm just creative, I guess.

I've added a ton more if you're interested, and plan to add even more later.

Aji (Guest) via AO3 2026-01-08

Haha, your creativity really shows I’m definitely interested. What’s your favorite thing you’ve added so far, and what are you planning to add next?

Arukir Author via AO3 2026-01-08

I'm glad you like it 😊

The rats are my favorite so far (what's your fav?)

I think I might add more detailed backstories, maybe some places, or maybe even a oneshot.

Aji (Guest) via AO3 2026-01-08

I love the rats too they’re adorable! 😄 My favorite has to be [your favorite]. Adding backstories and places sounds awesome do you have a oneshot idea in mind already?

Arukir Author via AO3 2026-01-08

Hey, no offense, but are you an AI bot? Write potato if you aren't 😅

I think she should be the leader's daughter. Maybe her and Brown fall in love? IDK, either way, love these!
