Appearance: Average height and build. Yellow eyes. Long, straight blonde hair. White hat, white dress with a subtle flower pattern, white shoes. Eventually replaced by pink hat and dress, red shoes and cardigan.
Relatives: Alchemist Smurf (adopted father), Warrior Smurf (adopted mother), Brainy Smurf (adopted brother), Gargamel (Creator and 'father')
Shipped With: Hefty.
Age Bracket: Young adult.
Created by Gargamel after he heard the urban legend that female Smurfs don't exist, she was born with various health problems. She was discovered and rescued when she was still a Smurfling, before she grew fully into the seductress she was meant to be. She was adopted and brought to full health by Alchemist.
Smurfette is very different than most Smurfs. She has long, straight golden hair and bright yellow eyes. She doesn't understand Smurf-speak very well and has trouble recognizing the subtle differences in Smurf faces. In many ways, her mind works more like a human's than a Smurf's.
She starts off as Smurfette because she's not exactly a full Smurf.
She later claims the name Empathy (Emi) after realizing that her thing is emotions, even apprenticing under Mental and working as a therapist/counselor.
This grows into a talent for soothing conflicts, connecting with people, and getting others to listen to her — it is at this point that she fully grows into Ambassador (Amy) Smurf.
Someday, she will take over as the village Redcap (though she'll wear pink), alongside Hefty.
I disliked how that one Smurf show made her Thing 'smurf-fu'.
That felt like a betrayal to Smurfette's character. It felt weak. It felt like they didn't know how to make her more than 'the girl Smurf' without randomly making her tougher than Hefty.
Smurfette is NOT a fighter. An adventurer, sure, and she can have her tough moments — but not a fighter.
She is sensitive. Her dynamic with Hefty is partially her saying 'babe that thing scares me punch it' and Hefty going 'you got it babe' with zero questions.
Smurfette has always had a caretaking side. A nurturing side. She's soft, gentle, sweet — and yes, that's because she was 'the girl' in an age where most girls were shown like that.
But Vanity has always been image-obsessed and was shown to live in a PINK house. Clumsy was caring, sweet, and so emotionally open that he barely thought twice about telling his friends how much he cared about them. GROUCHY of all Smurfs was shown to love flowers and was one of the ones closest to Baby Smurf.
Smurfette, meanwhile, had a 'takes shit from no-one' personality right from the get-go. She had her own temper and her own bravery. She was even shown to be something of a leader already, such as when she led Greedy and Lazy in a plan to prank Jokey back after a a prank spree.
And what did she do when Lazy fell asleep in the middle of the plan, which required all of them to giggle? She gently admonished him and tickled him to both wake him up and get him laughing for the plan. THAT'S gentle but decisive leadership.
Many female characters from that time period need updates. But I refuse to betray who they are to do that. Smurfette being strong and finding her own Thing instead of just being the girl doesn't require her to suddenly be a kickass who doesn't need help from anyone — it requires playing up the strengths she already had, like emotional empathy and social glue.

He should make a city nearby! In-canon both the Grove and Village get destroyed, and a new one gets built...
Though we all know canon should be put in a box in our attic, covered in dust and spiderwebs, sometimes that old box can be taken out, to find a thing or two that might be useful! He could make a second (third) living area, since the Smurf population is growing. Maybe another town, or something, gets destroyed, and the occupants have to move to Smurf Village, so he makes a city for them!
